Give it a search and have a chuckle. The funny thing is that Eichenwald could have said nothing and it would have been dismissed as somebody just looking at porn. People who knew what it was would have to explain hentai to the ignorant, and that's just an awkward conversation that no one wants to have.

Well regardless it's still funny as hell. Cruz does seem like the type to dig himself deeper with bullshit explanations. I'm hoping that his office is chaos right now with staffers running around, papers flying everywhere, everyone screaming, and a trash can on fire for some reason.

All the advanced first world nations have birthrates of like 1.2-1.5 or so. No special Japaneseness required. Like I'm 100% sure if there was a first world black african country that had the same birth rate as italy you'd get totally unironic "you see blacks are beastial and don't value family" racist stuff passed off as real the same way "you see, asians are the world's nerds" taken at face value of why japan has the same exact birth rate as white countries that have the same relative economic standing. Yeah, the real issue is that they have the same low birthrates as most of the first world in addition to having almost no immigration. So their economic boom from the 80's onward is hitting the speed bump of mass retirement with no replacements. Combine that with a pretty harsh corporate culture and you have an analogous situation to the millenial generation over here starting families way later (or not at all) but without any other demographics to keep things moving. Not really a "the country is disappearing due to NO KIDS!" and more of an economic low tide.

Tax Reform plan is almost ready to be publicly unveiled. http://thehill.com/policy/finance/350214-mnuchin-trumps-corporate-tax-rate-goal-may-not-be-acheivable Bullet Points of Confirmations/Changes - Corporate tax rate cut will be smaller than the 20% rate cut Trump promised. - Less corporate deductions will be phased out than planned. - Personal income tax rates will go down for "all brackets," but the top rate will only go down "slightly." - Eliminate the state and local tax deduction. - Eliminate the "Carried Interest Loophole" for service companies (hedge funds, accounting firms, etc) but keep it on the books for other businesses. - Tax cuts/changes will be backdated to apply to the current tax year/the January 2018 filing year. - They will use reconciliation if there is a filibuster (which means it will have a 10-year sunset clause) Short version: Some very minor reform, some smaller cuts than promised, heavily weighted towards businesses and people with incomes higher than $191,000, and a 10-year sunset clause that will be a huge legislative fight in 2027.

Well, obviously, he doesn't need any longer. That's as long as he needs to get the job done. Ted "Two Minute Warrior" Cruz is what they used to call him. Also, I didn't hear that guy tried to move to Japan of all places. I don't think he realized he couldn't get there because they have super strict immigration policies. He would have literally been treated like a second class citizen there, even if you did get in. Not surprised he gave up and went to Mexico instead.

Your Taint posted:So essentially pretty inconsequential but easily passable enough so trump could claim victory. It's still a pretty large tax cut for businesses (of questionable value) and high-income individuals (minimal value) that is debt-financed (bad for the low-value of the cut areas) and contains almost none of the actual "reform" part that could have legitimately been good to implement.

repealing the carried-interest loophole is a good thing but it's also a relatively small amount of money so it's going to be used as a shield for the massive hidden giveaways to the hedge funders that more than make up for it.
