I like that cool DVDs show up cheap at thrift stores and stuff now. I got an old Anchor Bay DVD of Manhattan Baby for eight bucks at a flea market the other day, felt better than dropping like $20 for a blu ray on amazon.

I still get DVDs when it's the only or best format available for a certain film. Like how the most complete version of The Devils is only on a Region 2 DVD and how The Fate of Lee Khan is only in some 4-film DVD bundle.

I definitely scan those weirdo, grouped-together collections any time I'm in a store that sells them.

The majority of people care so little about picture quality that I sometimes am curious how they're able to drive. Most people can't really tell the difference between DVD and Bluray. Just like how a lot of them don't notice frame interpolation and prefer to watch stuff shot at 4:3 stretched to 16:9 rather than have black bars on the sides of the screen. DVD will probably be a thing until high-speed internet is as common as indoor plumbing.

I work at a video store that rents and sells. Blu-ray does not put up numbers like DVD. I'd estimate that 75% of our customers do not have a Blu-ray player. Which makes the idea of 4K even more ridiculous.

Public library DVDs are a blessing and a curse. As far as I can tell, it's the only legal way I can watch Make Way For Tomorrow without buying it, but they only have two copies, one of which doesn't work.

There's this amazing store in Fells Point called The Sound Garden, and seemingly every other week they'd run a 2-for-10 sale, or they'd have incredibly rare stuff for like two bucks. Crazy good prices on vinyl, too; was able to fill out both my Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen collections there. Also, lost in the JJ Abrams / Star Wars news was that he's also co-writing Episode IX ... with Chris Terrio.

I just found the first three seasons of Futurama on DVD for 16 bucks. I go for blu-ray if possible because it's purdy but honestly if the transfer is good a DVD still look pretty nice, plus I can watch them on my computer without any hassle.And as mentioned they're a lot cheaper.
