It sounds like everyone really likes this game, I was a big fan of the original XCOM UFO TOFU on DOS, and enjoyed XCOM 1 Enemy Unknown on PC a few years ago.

This DLC seems like my jam but maybe not to the tune of $100 for XCOM 2 and WotC. I might just wait for a "complete" bundle or a Steam sale, although I'm not sure how often Firaxis discounts these titles. Was XCOM 2 base game really $20 over the summer? Sorry I missed that (but also not sure if these tracking sites are 100% accurate). https://steamdb.info/app/268500/

I'm meeting the Hunter for the first time! He heals on misses, takes shots when you miss, goes into overwatch when he moves, summons priests, and heals when nearby enemies get hurt.

So that sucks. :v:

So I have an Assassination Mission to kill an ADVENT Field Commander, in a Lost zone. I've taken care of what I think are all of the ADVENT units. Now all I'm dealing with is what seems like endless lost hordes.

Is there an end or am I bugged?

Do things keep exploding? Are you throwing grenades? You have to kill everything on the map to finish, so if you do that before more spawn you'll be done.

FYI this trait is somewhat misleading. He doesn't heal when enemy units take damage; he heals when your units take damage. Its like a vampiric aura. "Enemy" is actually referring to the player in this case.

Oh gotcha, that's good to know. His lovely little basic attack critting my templar for 11 damage is brutal too. He almost bled out because I forgot a medikit and the shadow chamber lied about number of enemies; there were 11, not 9. He survived the bleed with 1 hp. :v:

e: He got one attack off and did more damage than the Warlock has the whole campaign lmao

This game is rapidly eclipsing the three campaigns I played between XCOM EU and EW in terms of play time, and the amount of stuff WotC adds means the endgame doesn't get boring. 2K publisher discounts happen at least twice a year and while vanilla XCOM 2 is definitely worth waiting for a decent sale I'd say WotC makes it worth every penny at full price.

That said, unless you absolutely crave more XCOM right now it's singleplayer so wait for the sale.

Summoning priests was right up there with Planewalker on my Hunter. In comparison my Warlock can only summon regular troopers, but his ability to flood the place with psi zombies means I still have to bring explosives despite his immunity.

I've been running two resistance orders that make the new stuff a lot easier, and one of them is "no ambushes on covert missions." The other is between the eyes, which turns my sharpshooters into "remove all lost in range."

I always just dash through the high ground. Inevitably there's a soldier between buildings who takes a shot at my dudes, but I've never lost anyone in an ambush.

Just send decent troops when it's high risk for ambush? I think I've had a skirmisher go on every ambush I've gotten, that with a Templar or sharpshooter to take care of lost works well. You can also avoid revealing almost anything if you stay up top and abuse blindness.

Shumagorath

On any covert op with a chance of an ambush I recommend Wraith/Spider/Serpent suits for the extra mobility and armour jackets as your equipped item. You don't want to use grenades and the Dinner Bell takes too long to draw a meaningful distraction unless you want to inch along. When the first flare drops stand and fight, but then pick whatever path minimizes lines of sight (this is why grappling to high places and staying away from windows is helpful).

Oh maybe that's the problem. I've been sending the b-team and minimal gear so I don't lose anything.

I'd like the no ambushes order just because I'm sick of doing that mission. I don't get why its always the same map.

I had an extremely clutch bleed survival on my second Skirmisher when fighting in the Hunter's lair, and the guy had already been stabilized/revived/healed once so bleeding out would have been the end. My Hunter was weak to Skirmishers and had Planewalker so Wrath and Lash were super useful at forcing him to move into less advantageous cover. That fight was waaay harder than most encounters because the arena is too small for him to gently caress around with Tracking Shot.

Remember that you can evac individual bleeding/poisoned/whatever dudes to save their lives while still completing the mission. Today I did the gate mission with a subpar squad and forgot to bring any medkits. Which is how I learned that lid poison apparently lasts forever. Had to evac out two poisoned soldiers before they died.

You have to kill all the initial lost packs that spawned in the map. Spread your dudes out up high in the buildings and park em at the top spaceof ladders and theyre totally safe

Yeah, I had a retaliation (with resistance defenders) mission with primarily berserkers and lids. It started going south, but then truly the cat was amongst the pidgeons once the lids got into the 10 or so civilians. Managed to get everyone out alive, but all very wounded with a regularly streaming evacuation as people took hits. Once I have plasma we'll be back on top.

Doing a C/I run right now and it's gotta be said; the assassin really isn't too bad if you don't enable the Mox/Dragunova mission so she doesn't pick up immunity to overwatch. Been having a pretty easy time with her through overwatch spam and chasing her down with my bladestorm templar.

Hunter roughed me up something fierce though. I was in a Lost-infested city map and he showed up alongside a nasty early muton pack and about a million Lost. Couldn't do much about him while I was busy fending off everything else, so he just grappled all over the place for flank shots. Ended up with one guy unconscious on the floor, and another who had to pick up + evac my primary ranger who was bleeding out. The only 2 remaining soldiers were forced to clean it up themselves, which they just barely managed to do. I only ended up getting 2 supply boxes, and this was a supply run that I spent 8 days scanning to create. Huge waste; I barely got anything out of it except 28 day wounded timers.
