Star Citizen is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it's fidelity when you look out your window or when you watch youtube

Maybe Derek, Goons, et al can offer the last bastion of citizens an Official Grace Period™ where they're welcome to hop on over to SA, tell us their backers stories, and get a personal guarantee that they will not be mocked/ridiculed, but are free to join us on the mocking/ridiculing immediately on arrival. I know it goes against the DNS of SA to even suggest this, but I think something along these lines would do a lot of good.

Last year, Lowtax offered free forum registration to anybody that got banned from CIG's forum.

I feel like a lot of remaining Citizens are this way and the only thing that keeps them from going full "gently caress CIG" is that the only thing worse, in their minds, than losing hundreds of dollars and several years on a blatant scam would be admitting that they wrong after being so thoroughly mocked for it.

I kind of feel like the real refund cascade will begin as soon as there's some narrative that allows people to bail on CIG without ever using the phrase "Derek Smart Was Right." Like, it turns out Chris Roberts is banging underage prostitutes in Nicaragua or something- some random but completely disconnected moral failure that they can point at and go "THAT'S why I'm getting out. All that stuff Derek said was still bullshit, I was still 100% right, but I can't support that kind of (totally un-leaked never could have seen it coming) behavior." I also think this is why CIG tries to cast the big refund stories as more Derek FUD spreading while basically ignoring the daily CIG-hosed-up-again narrative- people have already excused anything stupid they could possibly do, but the only way to shield from real bad news is to make it look like it's coming from "The Enemy" who, as we all know, is always wrong about everything but also ten times more cunning than CIG and constantly plotting their downfall.

Well, I dunno man, they've had many excuses unrelated to that Derek Smart guy. Off the top of my head:

1) the VP of marketing, and wife of croberts, doing tickle porn videos (ok, that's not so bad since it's not real XXX p0rn, but you know, some people value their moral high ground)
2) setting up a company with backer money, then selling it back to the same people, thus taking money out of the venture
3) exorbitant salaries for the aforementioned execs
4) taking out loans which may not have been necessary if it weren't for #2 & 3

And those are the just ones off the top of my head.

Probably the former, because that means more fun is in store for the rest of the year.

This is where the bar is now. If they get just one thing right after five years and $160 million, then that's a huge milestone.

I'm not really sure what Swafford/CIG and by extension reddit's point of contention really is. Are they saying if someone had actually spent that much and wanted to refund $45,000 then they would reject the refund request?

Because in contracts you can only use their images and likeness for a certain amount of time without paying more. Thats almost certainly has run out.

That would require the thinking that Chris Roberts isn't really what people want him to be, though.

Coming to the realization that he is a bad manager would then lead to them evaluating what he's said all along. They would see things he's promised that never happened, would see dates come and pass for promised releases.

"How did I not see all these things?"

"Why did I not notice this stuff?"

"Those dumb internet people I fought against... they saw this... they were... right?"

I hope SC turns out for the best, for all concerned.

I don't care at all, but also I do. The thread used to do a lot of food chat didn't it?

What would goons do with a sack of drumsticks? Best recipe posted I will make and provide proof, as long as it's not too hard.

Also, what is the best anime that is not mainstream?

I can't think of any other derails to try and start, as I am not very smart. Please do the needful and pull your weight in thread derailment until citizencon.

Freelancer with a new coat of paint would have been pretty awesome.

Of course that'd be a 3-4 year project. Just releasing something like that now, adding 3-4 more years of dev time because they very clearly don't have even a basic gameplay loop, would be an incredible slap in everybody's face.

If only Chris Roberts didn't go insane with feature creep. He could have been working on Star Citizen 2 by now. :(

I was screwing around with slowing down Full Burn and some of the parts sound very ominous. The lyrics also give off a weird vibe when taken out of context. Is there anyone who knows how to gradually slow songs down so they don't get all choppy? If we can get the song to sound right I'll edit a video together.

When the song is slow and loud enough to sound like a cacophony of instruments we can get that one guy to start reading the Stimpire lore as the camera zooms in on Chris from that picture of the original Kickstarter crew while the faces of all the people who have left begin to blur and fade away.

Regarding the original composition 'Full Burn'

This is one of those purposely crappy retro things right? Like that pseudo 80s synthwave stuff where all the youtubes have fake VHS tracking effects added.

If so then that's a rather uncharacteristically knowing little gag.
