Some credit to the guy with the coveralls and shotgun for never pointing it at anyone, never putting his finger on the trigger, and not letting the raving lunatic neighbor get a hold of it.

Guy took a photo of two black spectators sitting during the national anthem at a Lion's game and captions it "ignorant [n-word]" and posts it online. He had his season tickets revoked (although, the organization banning him from watching the Lions play is kinda doing him a favor) http://www.wxyz.com/news/region/detroit/man-loses-detroit-lions-season-tickets-after-making-racist-post

"Graham said she sits during the national anthem to protest the third verse that pertains to slaves." For reference, the third verse: "And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion, A home and a country, should leave us no more? Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave: And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave."

These aren't the lyrics I was taught as a kid No, that's how you sing a national anthem, you sing the first verse and then start playing football or drinking or whatever. The rest of the anthem are only sung by weirdos and nationalists, I'm Danish, and I only remember the first line of the second verse of the Danish national anthem, it's something about chain mail wearing giants resting in burial grounds. Discworld actually makes fun of this fact, the second verse of Ankh-Morporks anthem is just humming, 'cause no one remembers it anyway.

Actually the national anthem is officially only the third verse of the Deutschlandlied since 1991. The second verse is obviously the best one.

Snowglobe of Doom posted:Next time they mention it say something like "Y'know, Indians always talk about how being conquered and brutally subjugated by the British Empire for so long and having that culture forced upon them was such a terrible thing but the fact that they still obsess over this British sport so much makes me suspect that they also miss it a tiny bit" and see how they react. If you really, really want to be torn limb from limb, try something along the lines of "Tendulkar is the best batsman to come out of Pakistan in generations", or "Tendulkar wasn't as good as Ponting." Basically, say anything bad about Tendulkar to an Indian and the schadenfreude will be well upon you.

Solice Kirsk posted:I'm assuming they wear different colors because they're the only one that can touch the ball with their hands and have different rules for interacting with them so it makes it easier for refs/judges to see them. Yes, dude scored an own goal. For an extra level of schad, had the keeper just fallen down dead as the dude threw the ball it wouldn't have been an own goal because you can't score direct from a throw-in. The tiny bobble off the bottom of his boot means that it wasn't direct, so it's an OG (that also, rightfully, gets marked against the keeper rather than the guy who threw it)

To be fair, it's 100% the keeper's fault. There's nothing out of the ordinary chucking the ball back to him, and he had plenty of time/space to catch it. He just... failed to.

Before you say it, yes I realize that bikes can crash.
