Well we picked up 12 more XP after getting Charmed pretty quickly so I'd say yeah, let's get Encyclopedic then Ambitious. By the time the next route rolls around we should have maxed quirks so we can just use dump those into stats.
We can prob suss more XP out getting higher science/math.

I do like the large event variety. Gives you something to do on new loops.

2 days until Christmas.

Don't mind me.

Just heading out for a trip with Kasumi to the beach on the 30th.

If we started hanging out with some other people, we could pick up a fair bit of XP.

We've got three sets of exams left before the end of the loop as well as Valentine's coming up. I wonder if we'll get anything this year.

Monday, December 25

The first half of this event doesn't really change much on new loops.

Main difference is that you'll have a different person to give a gift to.

: Oh my, a gift for me? Let's see...

: What do you think?

: Thank you, Lorde...

: Let's hope Kazuki doesn't break it.

Why did we drag you into the conversation?

: Hehe...

Kasumi's always the person who's meant to get us a Secret Santa, that one is fixed. She didn't get us anything.

Here's our big fork. Last time, we just laughed at Hiroshi being forced to leave the party early but this time we can go to Kasumi ourselves.

: Kasumi?

Hiroshi slides in all smug and gets mad real quick. I spent a bit of time just going back and forth on the sunglass sliding frames and I'm not sure why.

: Where did she go?

: What do I care? I offered to drive her home and she went ballistic and ran away crying.

: You don't know where she went?

: I don't know, there's only one road out of here.

Game: Hiroshi barges past you and heads back into the house.

: Alice said she found her pins in the water...

Game: You look around and begin scanning Shirahama Beach.

: Is she here...?

Game: You begin running up and down the shore, scouring the area for any sight of Kasumi. You suddenly feel something small tap your foot. You look down and see that Kasumi's wing pins have lapped up onto the shore.

: Kasumi's pins... if she's in the water, there's nothing I can do...

: Kasumi...

: Naoko said she has gone home, Lorde. Please come back inside...

Game: You come home after a mentally exhausting evening.

Satsuko left me another Christmas gift... I guess she wants to try and bring some sort of light to these Christmases, but...

That's Christmas done.

As you might expect, our schedule has changed.

Well, we've still got the rest of the loop to deal with. No rest for Goon.

Sunday, December 31

Satsuko still bugs us about the New Year and we head out. Nothing new here, but we do have an evaluation we should probably listen to.

Time to get judged.

Same as last time, huh...?

I guess we could bug Suzu a bit more.

: Hey there, Suzu!

: What's up?

: Can you help me with my science homework?

: Sure, which problem do you need help with?

: Do you know the answer to problem 4?

: Hmm, what was it again?

: What's an example of a symbiotic relationship?

: Those are the two creatures that work together in life, right? There's the plover bird and the crocodile. Or the clownfish and anemones.

: Man, you knew that right off the top of your head? You sure know a lot!

: That must be fascinating.

: Yeah, it is! She really wanted me to be smart.

: That's very kind of her.

: Yeah... does your mother care about you?

: Of course she does. All mothers care about their children, don't they?

: Something wrong?

: Are you feeling okay?

: Yeah... thanks for worrying.

: No problem. It's what friends do.

: Really?

: Yeah. Friends care about each other, right? So I'm going to worry about you.

: Alright.

: And you'll worry about me, right?

: Sure. It's what people do for each other!

: Yeah.

: Okay... well, I have to go now.

suzu.txt

What is she talking about...?

: Alright, talk to you later.

: It's an experiment I'm doing.

Right, I hope we're friends with Suzu at least.

Bah. Satsuko's evaluation from earlier might be borked or based on averages. We have one person who likes us and that should be enough to get an ending.

Monday, January 1

Same old new year. Satsuko yells at us to go hang out with Naoko so we do so.

But this time, we know the secret of seven herb soup!

: It's a special soup for well-being in the new year.

: Ooh, which seven herbs?

: It varies, but usually it's turnip and things like that...

: Goon, I'm impressed!

: Yeah, who knew you had such knowledge on soups, Goon-chan?

The next part of the scene is just "did you have a good dream?" and possible "did Hiroshi have a good dream?"

Our dream was mediocre.

And... I'm not actually sure if Hiroshi's dream changes.

Oh wait, Rena also had a bad dream. Forgot to take a screencap, you can check out Update 27 if you want to hear how she thought she was getting cooked in soup.

Sunday, January 7

Hiroshi's yelling at Yui again because she's anti-social.

We have one new option.

: She wasn't up to much.

We could've told you that last time, honestly.

I'm not sure there's a way to get out of this event without getting insulted by Hiroshi.

I still remember beating you in that. Can't believe I did it by accident.

And, well, that's update 50. It was a pretty busy fortnight, I guess.

Well gently caress you too Hiroshi. drat, that scene actually really works.

That's a good point actually. I assume trying to swim to try and find her would result in a death because we got taken by undertow but does anything happen if we tried it when our sports score is really high?

Same old back to school. Imagine going through high school for the 4th time. I guess I enjoyed high school enough, but I'd be going mad.

Monday, January 8

: What's wrong, guys...?

: About Kasumi?

: Word is spreading fast...

: Everyone feels just terrible... We were so terrible to just write off Kasumi when she was really struggling...

: Yes, there was nothing we could have done..

: Kasumi...

It was very frustrating the first time I played this game, not being able to save Kasumi. But we'll do that someday.

Saturday, January 13

: Hey...

: What's wrong?

: Kasumi died again...

: Oh! I'm so sorry that you had to relive that moment. How traumatic for you.

: Yeah...

: How is everyone at school doing?

: I think everyone's a little confused...

: Oh? Why?

: Nobody really knows what to feel?

: I think so.

: I see... Why don't we go out again and talk about it? It seemed to make you feel better last time. Come on, the fresh air will do you good!

: Ahh, here we are.

: Yeah...

: It's a very difficult situation. On top of that, she's a very complex person. It might make you feel better to try and think of Kasumi's death from all angles. Put yourself in her shoes. What kind of person was behind that exterior? What kind of life do you think she led every day at home and at school?

Death was inevitable because it was Kasumi? Weird message.

: Yes, but to die so young...

: Sometimes things can't be changed, Goon. That's one of the saddest lessons of all.

: I see...

: I hope this talk helped you a little bit. How about we go to the hot springs? I have a few more things I want to talk to you about.

Game: You and Satsuko travel to the bath house to unwind a bit. After a bath, you two meet up to talk further.

I think Satsuko finally realised we had friends.

: Yeah, she is.

I'm not denying that.

: Though she can be so sensitive sometimes. Don't ever let her shut down because of her feelings, alright? Keep pushing her to go forward. She needs that kind of encouragement.

: I get what you're saying.

: I can do that.

: As you should! You'd be a terrible friend if you didn't even try.

This would be a lot more helpful if we know who we wanted to go for in the next loop. Might as well see the Suzu stuff.

: You could stand to be closer to Suzu. Maybe you could call her more often? Or perhaps take her on a date? You'll be closer before you know it. That's all I can tell you for now. Be sure to keep what I've told you in mind.

Bah.

We organise a date with Suzu since we apparently need to do more work there.

Progress is still going well. Unless there's a stat gate in Suzu's ending that I forgot, we should be fine.

Saturday, January 20

: Let's not waste any time. I want to find that grave.

Game: You both search to find the unmarked grave.

: Alright, so it's here.

: What is it you have there?

: I thought that if I looked in this history book, I could find information about the person in this grave. It's a book about Japanese musicians, and I recall seeing one of them being listed as being from and buried in Shira Oka.

Game: Kazuki walks up, holidng a small unlabeled bottle of liquid in his hand.

: Oh, you're here, Alice? Rena mentioned you'd been coming here lately, too.

: Yeah, I am.

: Peachy keen, we're all here!

: What's that in your hand, Kazuki?

: Oh, this? It's a solution I worked up. I think it will probably be able to clean all that gunk off the grave with minimal, if any, damage. It IS untested, though, on actual stone... There's a good chance it'll make the stone readable, though. However, I checked out the laws.

: What in the world are you waiting for? Go and check, silly bug!

: Alright... be back.

: Wow. To think we could be THIS close to finding out who's resting here for sure! So exciting.

: Oh, I know! It's like a spiritual treasure trove!

: I think I have an idea. I'm looking for the information in my history book here.

: Oh, how interesting, I-

: They won't allow it.

: Why?

: They say they don't... well, er, ah. They don't want to risk it without thorough testing of my solution first. So I guess that's it.

: Aww, and I was really curious too.

If it works, we confirm it's Zombie Mozart. If it doesn't, we probably defaced Zombie Mozart's grave. I like this idea.

: Oh...?

: But they have a point! If it damages it, I'd feel terrible.

: What's the risk? It already is damaged! Come on, Kazuki, you have to have an opinion.

Kazuki is definitely smarter than Goon.

: No fair!

We're doing it.

: Yay! Let's do it, then!

: I don't know.

Pssh, that's the fun part!

: Shh! Keep your voice down and just do it!

: Fine, okay, okay, calm down!

We are a terrible influence.

: Yay!

: I'm not taking the blame if this goes wrong, though.

: Do be careful, Kazuki.

: Did it work...?

: It MORE than worked!

: ...Wow, it did! Kazuki, you're brilliant! Brilliant!

Game: Rena tackles Kazuki, giving him a tight hug briefly before letting him go.

: Heh heh, thanks...

: So what does it say?

Game: Rena stoops down and reads it.

: I knew it! Hold on a second.

Game: She flips to a page in her book.

: He was a lesser known composer from this area and made twenty different major pieces of music.

: Odd. Even if he is lesser known, with that many pieces you'd think I'd have heard of him before.

: Seems he wasn't well liked.

: How interesting.

The tragedy of Zombie Mozart.

: So sad.

: Interesting, though.

: I wonder if he's happy in the afterlife.

: I hope so.

: To have your life's work unrecognized... I just can't imagine it!

I think that's the last event of this chain.

Saturday, January 27

I remember when we used to be late for dates. That always worried me.

: Heya, how ya doing? Oh, Goon-kun! There you are! You're very punctual, I like that!

It's good to be on time.

We'll uh, deal with that later.

We're heading to the Bookstore. I don't think we'll need to take Suzu out on a date again but we wouldn't be heading back. You can get some eh reactions from asking someone out to the same place twice. They'll give you a warning, but it's a good idea to think of alternatives.

: Adequate for what?

: Absorbing information, of course!

: Heh, well it IS a bookstore...

: Oh, well, I guess the books are important, too.

: Well, why else would you be here?

: Bookstores usually have cafes that are wi-fi hotspots.

So Shira Oka takes place in a time where Wi-Fi hotspots are common...

: Oh, so you can use the internet service?

I'm not convinced Goon is hip with the times though. Just a small feeling.

: Precisely.

: Did you bring a laptop?

: No. I just wanted to know if this store had one.

: Ah, I see.

: But while we're here, we might as well view their selection of books! Hmm, there seems to be a lot of these books...

: I've never encountered one.

Last romance I read was... Romeo and Juliet back in high school? I'm not big on romance in general.

: Heh, I figured you weren't the romance novel type.

: Is this a popular genre?

: Yeah, a lot of women love these.

: Judging by the cover, I assume that the writing is probably elaborate.

: Well, I guess people read these because they want some kind of romantic fantasy.

: You can probably tell a lot about a person by what they read.

: You think so?
: Well, yeah. People who read fantasy books are usually dreamers, factual books usually draw more studious people, et cetera...

: Hmm, that's fascinating. I'll remember that!

It's a good thing these things are never really affected by your stats. Otherwise, Goon taking anyone to a date in a bookstore would've been super dumb.

Monday, February 5

: Hmm?

: It's almost Valentine's Day! I remembered this year!

: Yeah, it sure is.

we're finally getting a valentine's day present

: Oh... I don't think you're supposed to tell.

: Oh... boo.

: It's okay. I still don't know what it is so I'll act shocked.

: Oh, okay! Great.

: Hehe.

: But it's going to be a big present, I promise.

: Big...?

: Yep. And awesome!

: I... see.

: I bet you can't wait!

: Why?

: Oh... it's nothing.

: If you say so...

: It really is!

Both of these options are terrible.

: Well, don't go crazy.

: Huh? What do you mean?

: It's not that big a deal. You don't have to go crazy getting presents for me.

: Oh. But...

: But...?

: I wanna!

: Oh... well, I guess if you want to.

: Yaaay!

: But still, try to keep it under control...

: Ah... okay, I'll try.

: You'll try?

: Well, we have different opinions of "control", I bet.

: Yeah, probably.

: Well, I promise you'll be happy when it comes.

: Alright.

: I'm not going to let you down!

: Good to hear.

That sure dragged on for longer than it needed to.

Aya forgets us and our day is better for it.

Wednesday, February 14

: Oh...?

: Yep! For Valentine's Day! Yay!

: Oh yeah, that's today, isn't it?

: Of course it is! Haha, silly, did you forget? Even I'm not that forgetful.

i wouldn't blame Goon, this is probably his first valentine's present ever

: ...Maybe.

: Well, I didn't! And I got you a super-nice present!

: Really?

: Tada!

: A... wrench?

: Yep yep.

: But why...?

: Because, the wrench comes from my own personal tool set.

: Really?

: And that's one of my favorite wrenches! So you better not lose it! It's special!

: Oh... thanks a ton then! I'll keep a good eye on it.

Here we are again. We got our first Valentine's day gift last time!

We don't bother with fashion so we have a lot of physical stamina to burn. It's all been going to Sports because I can't think of a better way to spend it. Art still costs some mental stamina and we're spending that on Science.

Sunday, March 4

: What?

: It's that time of year again!

: What time?

: Again? Honestly, Goon. It's almost White Day!

We kind of just skipped over White Day last time but this scene will always play out the same. It just matters that it's Year 3 and we got a valentine.

: Oh yeah, White Day.

Ugh.

: Time to go present shopping again!

: Sure is.

: So who's the lucky girl this year?

You can only get 1 gift per year.

: I suppose I should get a job.

Man, Goon can just get employed like that? I'm jealous.

: Bingo!

: I'd like to find something unusual...

This choice determines what set of choices you get later. I'll talk more when that pops up.

Have I explained this already? Shira Oka blurs into a giant mess of Deja vu for me.

: Something unusual, huh? Well, I'll hope for the best from you, then! Make sure to pick out something good!

Ugh, I hate how much stuff gets cramped into this time period. We're especially lucky since there's 2 Kazuki events that can fire now and take up free time.

Tuesday, March 6

This seems new.

: Uh, do you NEED something? I'm busy.

: Oh, sorry...

I like Kazuki, so I'll take the gentle approach.

: No, sorry- I didn't mean to stare.

: *sigh* Whatever.

: What do you mean, "Again"? I'm not always in a bad mood, Naoko. And... er, and don't call me that!

Goon doesn't care that Naoko calls him sweetie, but he also gets called Goon-chan and doesn't care. An impressive tolerance for names.

: Well, you do get bent out of shape pretty easily. What's wrong?

: Nothing, alright?

: Oh come on, I find that hard to believe.

: Geez, would you stop being such a nag?!

: Kazuki!

: Oh, where are you going, Kazuki?

: LEAVE ME ALONE! Everyone needs to leave me alone!

: He just seems to be in a bad mood.

: Why?

: Who knows.

: Sometimes people just lash out without meaning to.

: I guess if you're angry then you're angry at everyone.

Terribly rude to lash out at unrelated people though.

: I wouldn't worry about it, Suzu. He's just being a grumpy-grouch.

: Okay...

: Do you know what's wrong, Naoko?

: She does that a lot...

why does aya have friends again

: I just wish he wouldn't react to her so much... Since he seems to not want to talk to Suzu or I, how about you try talking to him, Lorde? Maybe it's a problem only a guy would undestand.

: Like what?

: Maybe he's all bent out of shape over a girl or something... poor dear!

I have a feeling we wouldn't be much help if that was the case.

: Sure, I'll see what I can do.

I didn't remember this scene so I was curious.

: Thanks, I really appreciate it!

: No problem.

Game: When you find him, he seems to be in quite a sour mood. You wonder if he'll be willing to talk to you.

We talk to him.

: Hey... sorry I snapped at you earlier. I'm just feeling out of shape.

: Don't worry about it. Something on your mind?

Uh, this is new to me.

: Oh, sorry to hear that. Are you parents there now?

: No, we were there a while ao. Still, I can't help but think that maybe some of my friends are fighting in that war.

I have no clue what to pick here.

: Man, that's horrible.

: These are people I lived with for a long time...

: Wars are more horrendous than you can imagine, Goon-kun. People die in the most unimaginable ways. And nobody does anything because nobody knows what's going on... It makes me sick inside.

: Well, I guess you just have to keep thinking that things will get better eventually.

: Yeah...

: You can't worry about what you can't help.

: I guess...

Sheesh, I'm still seeing new events after like 15 loops...

Here's some comedy relief after civil war chat.

I haven't shown off illness properly yet, have I?

In this case, our physical stamina has dropped too low and we'll be forced to recover for a bit. The time can vary but if we go in to exams like this, we'll be getting F's.

We have exams this Friday.

I hate this time of year.

Wednesday, March 14

: Yep. Sure is. Happy White Day, Suzu.

: So did you get me anything?

: Haha… sure did.

: Yay! I wonder what… hmm… could it be…

: Why do I not just give it you and can see…?

: I got you this computer maintenance kit.

I kind of wonder what her response to the anime DVDs would be now. She does like them…

: Did you really?

: A really good one, yep.

: Ooh…

: Really? You like it that much?

: Of course I do! This is the greatest gift ever!

: Wow, I did well then!

: Sure did! Thank you so much.

: Really? Why?

: The gift you got her, silly!

: Oh, I was hoping she’d like it.

: Like it? She loved it!

The test is tomorrow so this was the perfect time to recover.

Monday, March 19

: Oh!

: Oh sorry, didn't mean to bump into you. Hope I didn't scare you.

: Ah, it's a relief that it's you!

: Er, are you saying I have a bad haircut?

: Huh?

: Sure.

I'm not fond of pre brewed tea. Gotta brew your own so you know they didn't screw it up and overload it with sugar.

: Fruit juice.

: Okay, be back in a sec!

Ugh.

: If you stand around like that, people are going to think you're weird.

: Oh, Rena just ran to get me a drink.

: Why would she do that?

: I don't know, she just offered.

Well, this isn't going to go well.

: I'm back!

: Hey, Rena.

:(

: You didn't get me a drink?

: You weren't here when I went...

: But you should have been able to see me coming with those weird powers you always say you have.

: Oh, well I...

: What? I don't get it...

: Psh, never mind...

: Besides, you have a drink already. If you didn't, then maybe I would have been meant to get you one. But since that's not the case...

: What the hell are you talking about?

: Oh, Goon! I got too wrapped up- here's your drink!

: Thanks, Rena. What did you get for yourself?

: Cold, delicious milk!

: Milk?

: What's wrong with milk?

: It is not! Calcium is very important for your bones AND your spirit.

: Psh, how could it be healthy for your spirit?

: Well, milk helps cool your mouth down when you eat spicy foods, so that same power can help keep bad spirits away!

: Sometimes I just can't believe you've made it this far...

: Well, what are you drinking, Aya?

no

don't ruin black tea for me, Aya

go drink energy drinks or whatever people like you drink

: Ick, too bitter!

There's actually a ton of variety in black tea. Currently going through a Chinese black called Lapsang Souchong.

: They drink them because they're more adult!

: I don't want to be an adult if I have to drink that, then.

Poor Rena. :smith:

: Oh come on Aya, a drink doesn't say anything about a person.

: Sure it does!

: How?

: Well... come on, everyone knows milk is for kids!

: Yeah, he does!

: Er... shut up! Neither of you know what you're talking about!

Aya sucks. Would anyone complain if I just jumped to the ending when I do her route?

All that spare stamina to sports ends up getting us this 100%.

Monday, March 26

: Goon-chan, I think something's wrong... I think I might be sick. Lately, I can't stop thinking about you!

: Um...

: Something must be broken. Should I take an aspirin or something to make it go away? I have other things to concentrate on, so this is kind of problematic. But the pharmacy ought to have something for it, right? Oh, maybe Kazuki knows...

Every character has a third tier affection call. I think that was Suzu's. It's a pretty good sign you're getting an ending.

Tuesday, March 27

: What's up, Hiroshi?

: Thanks, man!

Hiroshi's nice when you're not going against him or being bad.

Yui and I can try to run, but we have to sit through this event anyway. Skipping it.

Friday, April 6

: Hello there, Alice. What's going on?

: I have been checking around for quite a while in the local music shops. I've been competely unable to find anything by Onpunuma Kichirou though.

: Really? Why is that?

: It's apparently long out of print. Public domain now. But even then I can't find them. I've looked at the library, in books, online, everything! Not a single trace of him shows up except occasional things that simply state he existed.

: Yes, that's too bad...

: Every artist needs a little recognition, sometimes. I know you're dead, Onpunuma, but don't worry! If you can hear me, know this. I'll find your music someday, and I'll listen to it! I may even get to play it, better than anyone! Even if the rest of Japan wouldn't, at least know that I will. Teehee, that was fun.

I may not remember how to spell his name but I won't forget Zombie Mozart.

Oh hey, school's starting. The holidays sure went by quickly.

May as well try a new branch. Last time, we didn't think we'd graduate but we did.

: I don't know. Go to college?

: That's my plan too.

: Me too, probably... since dad still isn't being cool with letting me pursue my dreams.

After this it just returns to the normal conversation. Skip.

I should probably spend that XP, but eh.

And honestly OP you might wanna do just like a lowlights run of Aya's story. Like just do an update or two to show how bad it gets and the ending and then we'll call it.

Aya really sucks.

Hiroshi is the 2nd hardest route in the game, right before Kiku's. We're probably not ready for his route.

I'll be throwing up the poll for route choice again after we finish this ending. If you want Aya then, I'll throw up another poll going "do we skip to the ending or do we actually bother".

We've got about half a year left until we properly enter a route. We've seen a bit of stuff already, we're going to knock it out in one update.

I should really keep track of all these load screens. Maybe we'll even see them all by the end of the LP.

thanks

Probably should've closed something before recording but that's done and dusted.

: Hello, Lorde...

: Hello, is something wrong?

: ...

Game: She turns her back to you, seeming quite upset about something.

Game: She stomps off, mumbling something about a jewelry store. Every once in a while she glances around.

Well, at least it wasn't about me.

I have no clue about that.

golden week blah blah blah

Friday, April 27

Let's talk to her. Have we seen this yet?

: Hello, Naoko. What are you up to?

That was sudden.

: But the poor dear needs a little push. So I was going to pick up a present for him to give her.

: I see.

: That's a good idea.

There's no version of a "rival" system in this game, so may as well agree.

: Oh, I'm glad you think so too!

: Help him all you can.

: Thanks for the support. Lots of people think I'm too into helping others. But I don't think there's any way you could help people too much!

: No, that just shows you care, I think.

I'm not sure I'd be able to remember this event, even if we had seen it.

Oh dear, I let our mental stamina get too low.

At this point, we don't need every day.

I don't think "depression" is the best term for something you recover from in one day. Stress would've been a better name.

Monday, May 14

: Hmm.

Game: She sighs and puts it down.

: What's wrong?

: Oh, it is silly... this game on my cell phone. I am no good at it.

: Oh.

: It is an action puzzle game, but I am bad at it. Nothing important.

: Yes.

: Can I see it?

: I do not see why not...

: Hmm? Hey, what's this?

Game: Suzu sees the game that Kiku was playing on her cell phone.

: Oh, it is that puzzle game, Jelly Drop...

: If you want.

Game: She plays the game for a few minutes, then hands it to Kiku.

: ...

: What?

: Oh... is it good?

: Very good. Look, Lorde.

Game: Kiku hands you her phone and you see that Suzu has indeed achieved a very high score.

Pssh, who wants to be good at puzzle games? I'm already good at the best game, Shira Oka.

: Oh, that's good.

: Oh...

: Have you played before?

: Great job, Suzu! That's impressive.

: It is?

: Very impressive!

I remember this event but I guess we haven't seen it in the LP yet.

I hate weeks like these. I wonder what the pass/fail rate even is?

We join up for the swim team.

We might as well go for Encylopaedic. We're 10 XP away and we have an ending to get some from.

Sharp from Goon. The culture festival didn't go on in 3rd year last loop. Skipping the rest of that scene since it's the same.

Tuesday, June 12

: Oh, hello, Kiku.

: That game of soccer we played in gym today was fantastic.

Option 1 is eh, option 3 is Hiroshi. Time to go for option 2.

: Thanks, Kiku! I try hard to do well against you.

: Be proud of the talents you have, Lorde-san. You have clearly worked hard to be this good at sports.

Since Science + Sports is a good combo, we have 86 Sports. We could probably hit 100 Sports this run, I'm not sure if we already did that last run though.

Ah well.

Friday, June 15

: Hey there.

: Huh?

: I apologize, I know practice is over for today... But it seems as though I forgot to take my earrings off before practice and now they are lost in the pool.

: Say no more.

Game: You dive into the pool and begin to scour the bottom.

: Where are they...

Game: You come out of the water, panting heavily for breath.

: I don't think so...

: I see, they are quite small...

Feels like we failed but we got XP. Maybe it's one of those events we need to have seen once to succeed.

Same.

I'm not sure why I started work on the cultural festival, it doesn't matter in 3rd year.

But hey, does this guy look like black haired Cloud Strife to anyone else? Those rolls look like the Buster Sword to me.

Thursday, June 28

I didn't realise there were so many swim team events. I hadn't ever seen the previous one either.

: Hey, watch this! Check out this totally awesome new trick I just thought of!

: What is it?

: Okay, here I go!

Game: Aya readies herself a few feet back from the side of the pool. She takes a step, and cartwheels towards the water. However, she miscalculates the distance and hits her head on the side of the pool before falling in.

: Aya?! Aya, are you alright?!

: Ow....

: She wanted to do it.

: You said you wanted to see it. Ouch...

: Stop moving, Aya. You probably have a small concussion. *sigh* I am not angry with you, Lorde. I cannot believe you would do something so foolish, Aya...

: I'm sorry...

: She will be fine, but please excuse us for now, Lorde.

These swim team events are good for XP.

In this last stretch, I've stopped worrying about any stats that aren't Science or Sports. We're not going to fail enough exams to be reset and I'd like the XP from 100 Science.

: So you really like that song, Suzu?

: Yep! Sure do.

: Well then, I'll play it.

: Oh, that's a good easy song. Nice and slow.

: No, it's alright. You didn't know...

: I'm still sorry, though...

: Oh man, this is terrible!

: Calm down, Alice, what's wrong?

: Want me to take you to buy a new one?

: ...Oh, that's so sweet of you! But that won't work. It's a very important component of the violin and mine was custom-made. There's no way a store-bought one will work for me.

: Oh.

This is a two-parter, we'll get the next part soon enough.

End of the last normal semester. We're about to get to the good stuff.

Wednesday, July 25

: Goon-kun, come to the school music room. I want to chat about something. Okay, bye!

: Hey there. How it's going? Did you replace that bridge?

: Yes, I finally found somebody willing to custom make me one identical to my old one on short notice, thankfully.

: Well, that's good.

We're up to 14 XP now.

We're still doing a lot of swimming.

Honestly, I have no clue what to do with our time left.

Eh, Obon. I wish I had a skip function.

Seriously, no skip function is a real deal breaker. I can't actually recommend this game in good faith.

Friday, August 31

: Oh, Satsuko.

: Sorry, you just surprised me.

It doesn't actually matter what you say to Satsuko but I like her so I'm being nice.

: Aww, I didn't mean to scare you! Hmm, maybe we should work on that... you need more guts, Goon! But, I didn't come here to scold you. At least not today!

: Oh, what's up?

: I want to give you another reward, Goon, for how well you've done.

: Another "reward"?

: Teehee, don't remember this from last time?

Oh no, I could never forget...

blaargh

Click that for video. I'll just be over here with my audio muted.

: Are you okay?

: That was...

: You've already had an effect on a lot of people, Goon. And I'd say a few people have had an effect on you, hmm? Keep up the good work, Goon. You'll never know when things will get better or take a turn for the worse. Just hold you head up high and keep going as best as you can, okay?

Game: Satsuko fades away with a smile.

Yeah, the lack of a skip function is inexcusable in a game that expects you to see the same events over and over. That's one of the main reasons I only ever managed to get through two endings even though the endings are actually interesting. The rest of the game is just tedious after a while. If I had to guess I'd say the developers just didn't want you to miss the little differences that come from your character remembering he's seen something before, but there's so many of them that never actually change that really should be skippable.

Also most VNs let you skip until you come across new dialogue. Doing that would have let you see all the little differences without having to sit through the same Obon/Christmas party/etc 5 million times.

It's taken us quite a while to get around to failing Lit. This loop's Goon is notably better than the last one. We're still not good enough to be fashionable though.

Ah well, another loop.

Monday, September 3

Game: Your head still swarms with the thoughts of the vision you saw.

: Oh, hey, Suzu.

: School's started again! It's almost a bummer, really. Now I won't have too much time to work on my projects. Especially not my secret ones. I'll have homework and people telling me what to do and I'll have no time!

This can't be what she was talking about in my vision, could it?

: Oh well... they'll still get done, right?

:Right. You always finish what you start.

: Right! I should be off now. I still have to find Kazuki before class starts. I've talked t one, now the other, heehee!

Tuesday, September 3

: Hmm, I wonder what other good stuff is inside of here...

: Hey Suzu, did you lose something in the trash?

: Huh? Nope. I'm just looking for some things to use for my inventions.

: Like what?

: Well, like this!

: A broken clock?

: Well, the plastic faceplate's broken, and the battery compartment's smashed, but the gears are all in proper shape.

: It could still be useful for something.

: I see...

: You just gotta think of what's a good use for it. It's not all just broken junk, you know. I could show you some neat things if you come by the bike shop sometime.

Can I get my shrapnel launcher back?

: Sure, why not?

There may be a lot of text but at least it's relatively new. New for most of you, and the rest of us don't remember all of it.

yes yes, we're unpopular

Thursday, September 6

: Wow, Suzu!

: Huh?

: I can't believe how fast you're able to do those puzzles.

: Well... ah.

: My mother's a librarian and so she taught me a lot of things, and I have always liked to-

: Hey, hey. I know. It's okay.

Game: She blinks, and shakes her head, and suddenly seems fine again.

: Huh? Oh. Oh, yeah. Sorry, I guess I got a little... distracted or something. Are you still coming to see me at the garage this Saturday?

: You bet.

Hmm.

Naoko made some curry cookies, been there, had some.

Saturday, September 8

: Hey Goon-chan! Remember our meeting today? Come meet me at Ikegawa Motors as soon as possible! There's something I wanted to talk to you about.

She sure sounds excited about something. I guess I'll head over there right now.

: Hey, Goon-chan. Come in, come in! Could I ask you a question?

: Hmm? Sure.

: Would you be willing to help me on an extra credit project? I was supposed to work on it over the summer, but I was super busy with my other projects.

: I don't remember anything about an extra credit project...

: You wouldn't. I got special permission from the teacher to work on it. Anyway, will you be my partner? I really need help and you're the only one I can count on.

: Sure, okay.

: Wow, thanks so much! Yay! I can't wait to get started on it!

We got some XP here but I skipped through it and it's barely visible. So yeah, not in the picture but we got one.

: Come on, let me show you some of the other things I've been working on lately.

Man, when's the good stuff happening?

Monday, September 10

: What is it?

: I have my radio on, listen... some business got broken into last night right after dark. A hardware store.

: Really? Was there a lot of money in the cash registers?

: No... all they took was... a screwdriver set, some ratchets... motor oil, and a welding set? Weird.

: But no money? That IS strange.

Wednesday, September 12

There are many things I could say to that, but I won't.

: What?

: Wow, another burglary? How much money was stolen?

: No, that's the weird thing! Only some gold and silver bars...

: Well, those are worth a lot of money.

: Yes, but if it's the same criminal, they haven't been stealing for money...

This should be good.

Friday, September 14

: That's great.

: So he's going to let me continue working on it even though the break's over!

: Nice. Do you need my help yet?

when's the weird poo poo happening

Monday, September 17

: Well yeah, but everybody does.

: Do you know what I think?

: Hmm?

...

Beautiful.

: Huh? How did you think of that?

: And not just any robot, but a giant KILLER robot. It makes total sense!

Yes it does. Can I get a rocket launcher or something now?

: What? That makes no sense whatsoever!

Goon still has much to learn.

: Well... that sounds a little far-fetched to me, but I do think there's something fishy with these robberies...

: Argh...

: Anyway, whether it's a robot or a fish, this explains why only weird stuff gets stolen and never any money!

: Hmm...

: Well, I'll try to find out more about this. Thanks for listening!

: I gotta go, too. See ya later, Goon-kun.

Rena's great.

We get a point of XP for hitting 100 Science.

Friday, September 21

: What's up, Kazuki?

: Yeah, I hear that MHI is starting a special research project here soon.

: Oh, really? Hmm...

: What are you worrying about now, Kazuki? You shouldn't worry so much. It's not healthy.

: What do you mean? You worry about me all the time!

: But I'm your sister. It's my responsiblity to worry about you while Mom and Dad are away.

: ...

: Kazuki-chan! How can you even say that?!

: Sorry, sis... Besides, who said I was worried? I was just making an observation, that's all!

: Kazuki thinks there has been more MHI trucks than usual behnd the school lately.

: Hey, are you guys talking about the MHI trucks?

: Yeah, you noticed them too?

: Teehee, of course! I heard on the local news that MHI is starting a new research project here in Shira Oka soon. We can expect to see a lot more trucks coming and going. I'm so excited!

: MHI designs and manufactures a lot of sosphisticated technology, don't they?

: It's cool, but also a little creepy, if you ask me...

: Look, there you go worrying again, Kazuki-chan...

: You think so? Yeah, maybe I'm being too paranoid...

: All this worrying is going to make you late to class, Kazuki.

: Naoko!

One day, those MHI trucks might even be important.

Saturday, September 22

: Hey Goon-chan! I'm so glad that you picked up the phone. Are you busy right now? I think I made a breakthrough on my project! Could you come over so I could show you? That would be so great. Thank you so much, Goon-chan! Please come right away!

Game: She hangs up before you could even say a word.

: Oh, hi Goon-chan. You're here! Thanks for coming on such a short notice!

: No problem, you wanted to talk about the extra credit project?

: Yes, I wanted to show you something. Um... where'd it go, where'd...

: I'm not even sure what it is yet...

: Right...

Game: Without saying another word, she dashes into the back room, leaving the door ajar as she continues looking for the thing she misplaced.

I don't think we come in here unless we're on Suzu's route. I'll take the point of XP.

: Coordinates... A-4, D-7.

: Suzu?

Game: Her eyes are glazed over and she seems to be in a trance.

: Huh?

: ...Are you okay?

Game: Suddenely, she snaps out of it, as if nothing had happened.

: Sorry, I thought you wanted me to follow, when you came back here...

: Heh, it's okay. I don't even remember coming back here, though. I've been kinda... forgetful lately.

: I see...

: Please don't tell anyone about this place, Goon-chan! You're the only one who's ever been back here besides me and my boss. Not even Kazuki!

: Sure, I understand. I won't tell.

: Mm, actually, can you come back later? I just realized something urgent I have to do right now. Sorry...

: Uh, sure...

You can tell it's plot from the trail of XP.

Monday, September 24

: Hmm? Sure, what's up?

: Would you be willing to help me on an extra credit project? It was assigned over summer but-

: I did?

: Yeah, you did. I said yes. Remember?

: Oh... I'm sorry. I guess I forgot. It seems my memory's failing a lot lately...

I'm glad Goon calls her out half way. Otherwise the deja vu would be even worse.

We win the Sports Festival again. We might lose some day but 0 Fashion Goon is good at Sports.

Monday, October 1

: Yeah, just the other day. Why?

: I'm getting really worried about her. She seems to be acting stranger with every day that passes...

: Has she said anything unusual to you lately?

: Well, she's been mumbling to herself all this stuff that doesn't make sense... And she locks herself in her room for long periods of time. She hardly even talks to me anymore.

: I see...

: The next time you talk to her, try to find out what's wrong, okay? I hope she's not mad at me.

: Um, alright.

Poor Kazuki.

Wednesday, October 3

: I have no idea...

: It seems too odd... maybe even supernatural. I bet Yui's involved somehow!

: Hmm? Oh, no, that's okay, Yui.

: Ahh... alright.

Been a while since we've seen Yui, huh?

Friday, October 5

: Huh?

Uh oh, Yui looks upset...

: I have heard that... you have... been blaming the break-ins on me.

: Um...

: I... I have not done anything! Why are you... picking on me...?

: Er... I'm sorry...

: Yui, are you okay?

: No!

: Rena, maybe Yui has a point. You shouldn't accuse her unless you have proof.

: I... I am sorry. I did not mean to upset anyone...

: I'm sorry, too. I just wantd to figure out what was going on so badly...

3 guesses as to who's doing it. Hint: Seems pretty obvious to me.

Out of curiosity, I call Suzu.

: Oh, so THIS is the button that records- OH! This is Suzu's phone! Suzu is not here!

It's a no go.

Monday, October 8

: Sure am. What is it?

: Well, it's an artificial intelligence system.

: Oh?

: Sounds interesting!

: I think so too!

: Alright, let's do it.

Wednesday, October 10

: About what?

: Another building got broken into last night!

: This time it was the hunting store...

: Whoa, what was taken this time?

Somehow, I think that outranks our shrapnel launcher.

: That's kind of worrisome...

That killer robot theory is looking more and more likely.

: Yeah, you never know...

Friday, October 12

: Sure, what's up, Kazuki?

: Suzu seems weird lately.

: Even weirder than before?

: Haha, funny. Well, see, she's usually such a hard worker, but she hasn't gotten much done in the shop lately. She keeps going off to her private room hack there. Have you figured out what's going on with her yet?

: No, sorry...

: Oh well...

Saturday, October 13

We head in. You can't be lazy about these things in an ending.

Game: You knock on the door gently, and listen for a response. You can hear the sound of Suzu moving about and mumbling something monotonously.

: Suzu? Are you in there?

: Um, er, please don't mind the mess! I don't get very many visitors.

Guess she forgot that she already invited me in last time...

Game: You follow her in and she closes the door behind you.

: Yeah, you told me that the last time I was here...

: I did? Oh , sorry... I've been forgetting so many things lately...

: Sorry to hear that...

: Please don't tell anyone else you've been in here...

: Sure, it'll be our secret.

: Thanks, Goon-chan. I knew I could trust you.

: A questionnaire? Sure, I guess.

: Yay, thanks Goon-chan! This'll be fun!

: Hmm, what have I gotten myself into...?

: Okay, just relax and answer the following questions honestly. There are no right or wrong answers.

Game: She proceeds to read you a bunch of questions, taking notes as you answer them. the point of the questionnaire seems to be to determine how you would do in various social situations. Finally, about half an hour later, she puts down her pen and smiles at you.

: Yay, we're done! Thanks so much for your help! You may go now!

: No problem. Weren't you going to show me the progress on your AI system, though?

: I was? Okay. Come over here and watch this.

Game: She activates a small device and begins reading it questions from the questionnaire through a microphone.

Must be taking after Goon.

: Well? What do you think?

: That's great! But why did you need MY help?

: That sounds awesome. Glad to be a part of your project.

: I knew you'd like it! Thanks for coming by. I'm really proud of it.

That's that for now. We're in the middle of October now, so we've got about 1-2 months left in this route. So it should be about 2-3 more updates until we get back to picking another route.
