It really feels like McConnel and Graham have spent their time wisely in secret to set this all up for a Blitzkrieg and we're about to get steamrolled. Maybe not, but, gently caress, if it doesn't feel that way now. Lots of it doesn't kick in until 2020, and the Big Thing about this bill is changing poo poo to (reduced funding) block grants. Not that it's not incredibly evil, mind. If it passes I will immediately start investigating departure from Texas, I have a preexisting condition that could plausibly be used to deny me coverage if I ever develop something pricier.

I think everyone is missing the real issue with the CBO not scoring it. NO HEADLINES! With no CBO score, no headlines, no terrible news: there is no outrage, no coverage, no big number to make people care. It will pass quietly and in secret and no one will know until it is too late. That's what I'm seeing happening now.

Rand Paul is not a squishy politician. He proudly votes no on bills that have 99 yes votes, when he decides he's against something, then thats it. I'm counting Paul and Collins as hard no's, and McCain/Murkowski as likely no's. McConnell has to flip both Murkowski and McCain.

I think that's fair except I wouldn't consider McCain and Murkowski in the same league. I would not be surprised if McCain voted for this: I would be surprised if Murkowski did. I'd say it's more like McCain is a legitimate undecided while Murkowski is a likely no.

Now I'm just going to consider whatever they pass one more step towards single payer because that NEEDS to be the end result of loving the system this much.

John McCain's game is maximizing exposure. He realized that once he was on record as supporting G-C, everyone focused like laser on Murkowski and Collins instead.

This presidency is like a TV show that keeps bringing back poo poo from previous episodes as fanservice and it just gets more tired and hackneyed with every iteration. And this is only the first season. I don't mean to be overly optimistic about this, but I'm hoping this is just another example of the GOP punching themselves in the dick as publicly as possible.
