I have a whole calendar with movies assigned to each day, and it was such a lovely plan because I'm sitting down to watch movies and going to myself "well I'm more in the mood for the double feature I had planned for three days from now, oh well, gotta keep to the schedule!" Which is such a dumb way to do something that's supposed to be fun, so I'm taking control of my borderline OCD tendencies and I'm just gonna use the double features I already had planned but when I feel like it, not rigidly planned to the point that I end up sitting there watching something I'm not really in the mood to watch. So far I'm happy with how many first-time viewings I'm doing, I have 4 down already and haven't hit a real stinker yet.

7.The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) This was another movie that got watched a lot around my childhood home. Weird aside, while I never got along with my pops, he did let me watch a lot of these insanely violent and scary movies that I love now. So his poor parenting was my gain! This is easily one of my top horror movies because they just went all the way with it. The very first encounter with Leatherface is so insane between the situation and the music. It really sets you up for what the movie is all about. Chop Top too is one of the better horror characters to be put on screen in my personal opinion. Dennis Hopper as well is great. Even if he personally didn't like the movie he elevates it by going full on over the top. There a few powerful and disturbing scenes but mostly its just dark fun.

for the thread 1)Ghostwatch  I really enjoyed it. As far as spooky faux tv docs it's a farsite better than the UPN's Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County. It's done a lot more smoothly, what with the experts and investigation being part of the event rather than after the fact. I even thought it worked better than WNUF Halloween Special, since it took itself more seriously, even if it's less nostalgic for me personally. I'm sure I would have been totally freaked out had I watched it when it originally aired. Good stuff  out of 5

Plus you got some all-timers in Ravenous, Dusk Till Dawn, ItMoM, Scream, Candyman, Tremors and Jacob's Ladder.

The 90's aren't objectively as good as any other decade of horror, BUT I also was a teenager during the 90's and so I have a lot of nostalgia for some of those lesser movies. Like, I could do a 90's week and watch stuff like Mimic, Scream 2, The Faculty, Species, Candyman 2, Lake Placid, Sleepy Hollow, Wishmaster, Cube, etc. and be perfectly happy even though none of those are really considered top-tier 90's horror. And then yea, each year for the most part had one or two that are true classics like Candyman or Scream.

1)Ghostwatch 2)Willow Creek  It doesn't live up to Boggy Creek or Boggy Creek II, but still not a terrible Bigfoot flick. Not nearly as stupid as Lost Coast:The Bigfoot tapes which I watched last year.  .5/5

A good one for 1995 might be Castle Freak, a Stuart Gordon film that re-unites Combs and Crampton. It's not as good as his earlier stuff but still very much worth a watch. Of course I'm just guessing as to what you may or may not have seen before. And a possibility for 1997 is The Night Flier, which last time I checked was available on youtube. 1993 has Cronos, Needful Things, and Warlock, and also the original Leprechaun

#2: Rabid Cronenberg is one of the most interesting horror filmmakers I've watched. There's something about the way his 70's and 80's movies capture the ugliest aspects of a given time period, especially architecture and fashion. This visual ugliness gives his films a unique look, and build ugly worlds filled with ugly things, like in Rabid. Definitely one of his lower budget films, it's just rough enough around the edges where it adds to the atmosphere of the movie. Of course, Cronenberg focuses on the personal terror of our bodies acting against our will, and the horrors of science gone wrong. Something I wasn't expecting was apprehension of the larger picture, what happens when the government and military try, and fail, to deal with a catastrophe. Garbage trucks are hastily retrofitted to hold bodies, snipers sit on rooftops and attempt to kill those who turn, a mall Santa dies because a cop can't responsibly use his automatic weapon. The balance between the micro and macro horror is what really makes this movie click, along with the increasing scope of the threat and the unraveling of what's happening; it escalates from scary, mysterious one-on-one confrontations to terrifying, society-wide fear as the audience understands the full scope of the rabies and how it spreads. A worthy entry in Cronenberg's oeuvre. Completed: Beyond the Black Rainbow, Rabid

I'm in, no set watchlist or anything and odds are I'll watch a lot more than just 31... 1. Pet-2016: 7/10 (Showtime) Typical story about a creepy guy who becomes obsessed with chick and then kidnaps her, they throw in a twist that kinda sorta makes it a bit more interesting. Movie #9: Baskin I just complained about incomprehensible movie plots and then dove right into Baskin. The plot is goofy but the gore is genuinely unsettling because it looks so drat real. One big mark for this movie is it's cinematography. Holy poo poo this movie is well shot. Also the little dude is creepy as gently caress. You know what I'm talking about if you've seen it. All in all it is a very...uncomfortable movie. Solid enough.

Opera and Tenebre are really the only two Argento films that I'd say I would enjoy just on a narrative level alone. Like if you gave the scripts to some other random director I'd still probably like the movie. Overall I still prefer to watch Suspiria, Deep Red, or even Inferno instead though just because I think the visuals in those are on a completely different level.
