The thing of it is that they aren't weirdly prescient even if they are extremely accurate because the trump in the stories, much like the real Trump, takes the easiest, least effort, most played out route to power. Both trump and Trump exploited people's fears and hatreds to con them into giving him power. It's like when people say a politician is doing something "just like Hitler" when, yeah, they are, because Hitler used common political tricks to exploit people. ALL politicians are going to use on of those tricks and always have. All those stories do is extrapolate common tricks a lovely con man would use to gain power and, SURPRISE, a lovely con man used those same common tricks to gain power! Red hats, brown shirts, walls, "the other is keeping you down", "only I can save you", stupid gimmicks, "bygone days when we were great"; predicting a lovely con man will use that poo poo to gain power is like "predicting" there will be a crash on a race track, it's not amazing, it's just what happens. I just can't believe we're still falling for this basic bullshit

Gerber literally went back to all the old Atlas era horror and monster stories, pulled out 3 of the most batshit crazy ones, and made them part of 616 continuity. Then he rounded it out by adding a woman who replaced her head with an organic computer shaped like a red plastic ball and had her run for president.

Gorilla Man had his head placed on a gorilla body. Chondu was a mystical magician that had his body replaced with an amalgamation of mythical creature parts. Shrunken Bones essentially tried a Pym-particle type formula but only succeeded in shrinking his skeleton, so his flesh just hangs loose now.

The running gag with them is Chondu is always getting his head removed and placed on different things - the aforementioned weird creature, Nighthawk, a fawn, the She-hulk, a robotic spider.... God I miss Steve Gerber....

I was kinda soured on the concept from the terrible event comic, but then I read the comic and remembered it's a comic about a kid who loves giant mecha and monsters and co-stars Elsa Bloodstone, which it seemed the writers suddenly remembered too, and had fun with.
