I'm guessing this is a some kind of evolutionary response to avoid large airborne predators by remaining absolutely still or something?

It just needs to be rebootedquote:Most cats can be rebooted. If you’ve ever had to deal with a cat who wanted to mess with something, they can be pretty persistent in trying to get at it after you hide it. Solution: Reboot the cat. Basically, you have to give it a handful of stimuli too fast for it to process them without forgetting what it was doing. For most cats I’ve had, that’s about three things. My usual process: Pick the cat up, blow in its face, drop it (not like throwing it, just let it down pretty fast), then snap your fingers once on each side of its head.

I don't know if birds can 'see' and process a picture with no depth properly. Obviously they can see it's a page with stuff on it, I'm just not sure if they can resolve art. The colours would be wrong, anyway. Still an adorable stupid bird, but more in a 'hey what're you doing?' way than 'oh look, a friend' way. Prism has a new favorite as of 10:50 on Sep 23, 2017 |

The TA for my ornithology and mammalogy lab is apparently doing his thesis on black-capped chickadees. They're his favourite. He has a stuffed toy chickadee that sings when you squeeze it and sometimes he lays it out on the tables along with all the mummified bird specimens. From him I have learned that these adorable dumb birds form flocks for the winter which are basically nearly always even numbers, because they're made up of mated pairs.
