The Lions weren't defeated by a team, they were defeated by the word automatic because the league keeps making intensely stupid rules changes. Because if it's incomplete, the clock should stop, so no run off. If he was then down in bounds, then yeah, it's ~11-14s to the next snap before refs are set, so they use a 10s runoff.
