It'd be harder for players to do it without repercussion, since unlike NFL players they aren't represented by a union and college coaches have much more latitude for dismissing or punishing players for arbitrary reasons. It'd take entire teams worth of players standing up and doing it, which isn't out of the question since the NFL managed it with quite a few teams.
