The last couple of times I went I sat on the outside of the the last corner. There's a big screen visible from there. It's a pretty decent spot. It's a slow point on the track so you don't get the sensation of speed so much when they go past, but it also means you can see more than just a blur going past.

It wasn't too hard. If you're cleaning pots and/or replacing caps it should be easy for you. There are a bunch of guides over at audiokarma.com, and I just followed a few of those. Sometimes you can just buy replacement festoon (fuse type?) LED bulbs, but they can get a little pricey. You can also make up your own without too much trouble. Use a little pre-drilled PCB, some wires, and some LEDs, and you can determine the exact brightness and colour you want. They often need a resistor wired inline, but once you figure out how to calculate what value you need it's no problem. Parts are dirt cheap on eBay from China. This shows straight up LED festoon bulb replacement on a Pioneer a lot like mine: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/pictorial-how-to-led-tuner-bulbs-in-sx-x2x-727-used.675035/ Unfortunately a lot of the AK threads are older and used photobucket, so there aren't a lot of images left. But if you google image search "vintage stereo led bulbs" just try and stop yourself from replacing the old ones once you see how great they can look. The entire two and a half hour recording of Malaysia 2001 just popped up on the official F1 channel. Description is that it's a one-off and only up for three weeks but I hope they keep doing this!
