It'd made a splash because it's a bootstraps memoir. It's a guy who admits he's white trash who says that the problem with white trash isn't that they are getting turbo hosed by government policy and corporations that favor a few cities but instead is that they are white trash and thus brought it all on themselves.

Which allows everyone to tut tut and say the problem is white trash gonna white trash so we can just ignore them because the problem will go away the moment they decided to stop being white trash. No need to tax anyone or alter any policy.

That's poo poo you can put on TV and everyone with money left, right, or center will grow a big rubbery one while watching.
