There is no consistency with it. My skirmisher has been able to hit them with bladestorm but my Templar has never been able to do that.

While I didn't know Bladestorm counted as overwatch I agree, they just don't have anything pop up and tell you.

Technically it's "reaction fire", any kind if attack that responds to enemy action, which bladestorm counts as.

If I could design X-Com 3, I would develop different factions with their own classes and they would deploy as groups of soldiers (pods if you will) instead of individuals. So there would be 5 pods instead of 5 soldiers. Like a sniper squad, a demolition squad, shock squad, etc. For the expansion, I'd buy Games Workshop and adapt it to 40k.

I'd go full Heresy and just make female space marines

I can't exactly abide by "Burn the heretic. Kill the mutant. Purge the unclean." when the factions we're working with kind of fall into all three categories. Might as well go all the way.

I don't even want to know what my stats will be like when I put the ayys out of their misery. Between not remembering the tech tree and being dealt a catastrophic map/connection layout I wasted a lot of time and put a lot of resources that could have gone towards upgrading my poo poo into rushing towards a facility at the other end of the world. I researched all the data pads I had at some point before fully upgrading all my gear to tier 2. I still saw the doomsday clock for a couple days.

Of course, thanks mostly to Betos, the Avatar Project is now at 0 pips and will remain there for the rest of the game.

The hunter has a line about skirmishers changing their name from traitors. Skirmishers are pretty obvious but where do reapers and templar fall in the "burn, kill purge" trinity?

I nearly lost to the doomsday clock for the first time. Got hit with back to back avatar progress to fill the bar with no facilities/missions unlocked and a sabotaged scanner. I have already skulljacked the codex and hit the black site to clear previous clocks while trying to dig my way to a facilty. I used a covert op to buy myself enough time to dig my way to the only facility that didn't have an alien ruler guarding it only to have one show up to guard it while I was making contact with the region. So I got to fight the Archon King with magnetics and basic armor.

I wound up sending a reaper, my a team sniper, some heavies and 2 extra squadie snipers and just squadsighted the fucker to death. It was like 15 turns of plinking away at all 160 of it's health and the drat thing never even reacted. Cheesy bullshit but it worked. Still not as good as the run where my specialist hit an execution on an overwatch shot the second the fucker got activated but any run where I don't have to deal with that rear end in a top hat is a win. Also reapers are crazy good.

Chrysalids are the tastiest aliens for sure. Or maybe a gatekeeper, because it's a squid with giant brain.
Snakes are just snakes, mutons and berserkers have a lot of meat but probably too tough from lifting all the time, archons have too many metal bits in them, advent and new sectoids look far too human - let reapers eat those and they'll start considering to take a bite out of you in no time.

The one time I managed to get a 100% on a hack, it's to control a Sectopod :unsmigghh: It then proceeded to unconceal my squad and activate every single pod on the map including the lost, and Tactical Analysis every single one. It was the most glorious Concealment to FULL CHAOS turn I've ever done. Every enemy had to pick whether they wanted to move to cover or take a shot, and the only enemy they could get a clear shot on were Lost or the Sectopod

I'm still getting a lot of use out of the poster creator, especially in the late game.

It really kills me just how much better dumping Battlefield 4 or COD:Remastered assets into XCOM2 looks than the standard human stuff, there's just no style or flair to them. My crazy green & red tacticool Robin is an absolute beast.

I really want to use the Resistance Firearms pack, but man do I not like the late game being near-unplayable in terms of framerate with it on thanks to how the game handles gamestates.

(Well ok I'm exaggerating a bit but I just don't find it really worth it to deal with the FPS loss from the game having to track 60+ guns and their item states when I know I just really want to use like, two.)

Judging from the pound symbol, I'm presuming he's referring to the fact that the launch prices for XCOM 2 and WotC are the same in the UK.

...that said, XCOM 2's launch price there was 35 pounds (about 46 USD) when competing large budget titles seemed to be around 45 pounds (60 USD), and that doesn't seem to have changed by WotC's release, so this doesn't actually help that much. :v:

Its definitely not a vanilla thing. From what I've seen the map packs are really bad. I saw a streamer playing with one and it generated a map with a huge river in the middle that could only be crossed via two extremely narrow bridges. It created a bottleneck that was pretty much impossible to cross without getting murdered by the aliens on the other side.

Could be that the mod takes that tile and adds it to regular maps or something. At least on the forge mission you clear one side and can usually dictate the terms of engaging the other.
