I'll wait until somebody shows photos of FA fire controls. You can understand why I don't trust CNN's reporting on anything remotely technical, let alone politically-charged technical stuff.

Right now, it's all just a game of telephone.

Agreed. Easiest answer is usually the best. Why go through all the hassle of modding when there is off the shelf parts that give you the same result?

We had not left it yet, but when I would wake in the night, I would lie, listening, homesick for it already.

I just want to point out the grenfell fire was political while the fire was still raging. The council was being held to account from the very start with no time to try and close ranks and outmanouver the public. The degree of public anger meant other councils were forced to publically admit the shady building stuff that had gone on other blocks and dangerous cladding being removed at a cost that would absolutely not be being bared by them if there was attempt to do that now. The momentum for all that has led to a spotlight on the longstanding neglect of social housing in the UK and that can only be a good thing. In the white hot heat of anger following these evens is exactly the right time to be talking about the situation that led to it imo

Jesus, what a mess. I feel awful for all the people affected by this. I hate that it's become a norm now for individuals with bad wiring to perpetrate these mass casualty attacks, whether it's driving trucks into crowds or mass shootings, but I have no idea how to stop it.

Stop sensationalizing it and stop demonizing the mentally ill would be nice but oh well

I was wondering what came from that. Nothing has been in the US press since the week it happened. I don't even know how many casualties came from it. Other than way too loving many.

Seems dangerous. What if every time something terrible happened people took action to prevent similar things from happening in the future? It's a slippery slope to a government that spends all its time and taxes defending and supporting human life.

What's the 5 minute time interval between the daily mass shootings when you're allowed to "politicize" the issue? People were likewise bitching about bringing up climate change and infrastructure spending in the aftermath of the last few hurricanes.

If they're not otherwise in a position to be doing something for the victims I'm not sure what the issue is with people talking about it.

Tom Petty you've done gone and broken my heart.

Haven't seen the shooters motive discussed anywhere but he was a apparently a professional gambler, which seems to be likely since he was dating a casino worker and made frequent trips to Vegas according to family. Gonna take a wager on the dude being in deep gambling debt or some such.

Not sure how shooting that many people from a hotel window solves that problem, but welp.
