No you won't loving land like this. Any craft capable of carrying humans would be way to heavy for a balloon landing. There's a reason pretty much every proposed Mars landing utilizes a powered landing and we used a super complicated way to land the curiosity rover.
If you do a multi year storyline about a Mars landing you might want to to the most basic research into how a Mars landing might actually work.
But then again, it's Holbrook and he's making a living making comics using half remembered "facts" from the 90s.
