imo they're taking advantage of the Trump administration to see how much ethnic cleansing they can get away with, when it's against Muslims.

Larry Parrish posted:I'm so glad we have this giant war machine theoretically devoted to peacekeeping missions Peacekeeping? Peacekeeping has been off-shored, much cheaper to hire a foreign contractor. Fiji and Nepal have cut-throat rates. USA has payed to keep 22,000 AU forces in Somalia for ten years now. Not the troops, they often don't receive pay for six, 10, 12+ months in a row. President of Burundi is making out pretty good though. BTW the US has bombed Somalia at least 13 times this year, in case you haven't kept track. Not so impressive considering we were flattening whole Libyan cities just last year but there's no indication we're going to stop anytime soon, so it keeps adding up.

I'm aware of the extent of the GWOTs horror. It's just like, it would be nice if we kept up the part where we use the military to send doctors to fight Ebola or distribute MREs and not the part where we blow apart a neighborhood and kill 60 people to get like 2 'combatants'

There's an active Islamist insurgency in Chad, so of course we can't risk the chance of one of them taking a plane to the United States and attacking us here for our freedoms. Sudan was also going to be on the list, but the Saudis had us remove them because they're trying to get the Sudanese to help them in Yemen.
I don’t get the Venezuela part at all
Venezuela doesn’t even have a blanket ban like the others and it’s pretty narrowly targeted at government officials so it’s probably much more limited in human damage.
