Hey, so the OP mentions that you get some items from the Dark Arisen DLC, including one you can sell for good money.

When do you get access to them?

I've just been doing side quests following a spoiler free checklist, and I'm about to talk to Mercedes and leave the Encampment.

There are still no patch notes on the random 1gb patch for what it's worth.

Though I guess it is something that they fixed the Inflection augment. Rather than making you take more damage it now properly reduces it.

The monocle is the item you want to sell, you can grab it out of your storage at the first inn in the starting village. 300k gold.

It's too drat bad you can't import save info from PS3, so I could be at NG+8 with a god character/pawn. I also forgot what it's like dying to random-rear end bullshit :saddowns: But if you're on PS4 and need a pawn to tell you wolves hunt in packs, you can add MosquitoJones. Got my pawn up to almost max level sorc already. I think I'm level 33 or so right now.

I was doing Bluemoon last night and had something happen I hadn't seen before. When you're doing the chase scene, I made it to safety but all my pawns got killed because they weren't running or something. Had to fight the boss alone but it wasn't a problem because I did That One Quest already. I was overencumbered because I had to pick up all the shinies by myself and had to waddle my rear end back down to the rift stone.

Also I remember a thing where you could change your appearance from the title screen, is that not included in this version or is it something I have to find in-game first?

You have to buy that ability from the pawn in the Encampment who sells things for Rift Crystals. You can buy a cheap version that lets you change your appearance once, or a more expensive version that's infinite.

Sep 21, 2009

Yeah, as soon as you whip the Hydra, Jonathan shows up to sell you inclination elixirs, hair/skin dyes, and the Metamorphosis stuff. Or, if you don't mind starting again, Hard Mode reset will let you change up your and your pawn's appearance again.

My pawn's up to lvl30 now. Do people like and use debilitater Striders? Might change her up.

I haven't played this game since it was released on the 360 I think? I remember starting as strider and ended up doing a magic bow and arrow guy. I picked a mage this time around and have done a few fights. Doesn't really seem that fun to just cast spells. Does it get any better with different vocations?

Yes. Try out Warrior or Assassin if smashing faces is more your thing.

Brontide and Fulmination don't involve just standing around, apart from that you can try focusing on enchants and blasting things with staff bolts.

Mage/Sorcerer will always provide the most sedentary of play styles, so that much will never change. It does get a bit more involved when you start getting more spells, though (especially the Sorcerer-specific ones). Brontide and Fulmination, two higher-tier lightning spells, have a bit more going on than just "stay out of sight and cast" and when you get the stronger versions of pre-existing spells there ends up being more on-the-fly decision making, choosing what level to charge up to. One of the great things about Sorcerer specifically is that none of its offensive spells are like any of the others, so you can put a bit more forethought into things such as whether it would be better to pelt fire balls, try and charge up a fire wall, or go all-in and try to get off a Meteor spell.

That said, if you want flashy magic-type stuff but a more active play style, the Magic Archer and Mystic Knight are probably right up your alley. You have to wait until reaching Gran Soren (or Bitterblack Isle) to unlock them but they have some of the most fun skills in the game. A good way to approach things is to do a little bit of play as Mage/Sorcerer here-and-there, inbetween something like Fighter or Assassin, until you get the magic-boosting Augments. Then swap to MA/MK and never look back.

What determines the cost to summon a Pawn? The interface seems to suggest it's the difference in level between yourself and the Pawn, but some are free?

Ones at your level or lower, or Pawns that belong to someone on your friends list, are free.

sorceror is definitely the most fun of the pure magic vocations when doing it yourself, always leave mage stuff to a pawn. that said, every vocations has its uses and you're highly encouraged to try them all out to see what you enjoy.
