Always makes for exciting times. It's a good indicator of when it'll rain at my place. If it rains at the track it'll bit mine an hour later every time

Old KB needing a walking stick these days. No wonder after the huge shunts he had in Formula 5000 in the 70s. John Goss isn't looking too bad

I might have to try Bathurst in rain in PCars because it looks completely unsafe.

It's not the worst weather I've ever seen watching the race. There was one where the mist rolled in so not only was it wet you also couldn't see a thing. They're doing well to avoid safety cars atm though.

Lol christ it's early but everyone's already contriving to gift the race to Whincup

also who the hell is the shithead in 97? he's giving Luke Youlden a run in the awful co-driver sweepstakes

Commentators just discussing it may get worse weather-wise so you'd want your main driver in then.

Stanaway is going to be one of the best drivers of the next 15 years once he gets a drive, he's already better than Cam Waters.

Stanaway is with another Prodrive team, the Aston Martin GTE team in WEC. But looks like he's done a few Super2 races to prepare for the Supercars enduros this year.

Waters should feel bad at getting outclassed by Stanaway really, he has a great international reputation but Waters has been racing in the main game for like three years now.

RIPenske, the pole car has succumbed to its motor problem.

They also just changed tires on that 6 Monster car so let's see if the tires were bad (as commentary just mentioned) or Stanaway is that class.

Good news is that 97 is back on the lead lap because SVG went nuts and was two seconds faster than the field

bad news is that I think they have to have another stint with Matt Campbell in the car

SVG is either going to fight his way through the field to the lead or will crash in the first few laps after the SC ends, I haven't decided yet

harperdc
Jul 24, 2007

Tanking the car back into the garage and quickly changing the suspension setup is probably less time than Campbell would lose with the current setup.

[E] SVG already up in the top 10? Dang

SVG winning with Campbell might actually be a bigger handicap than 2014 when Mostert won with Paul Morris.

e) in all seriousness one of my favorite things about Bathurst is seeing the young guys get a shot, and Stanaway is great and has a ton of hype, but Garry Jacobson had a fantastic stint in that 56 car.
