Second time I see him, I manage to hit him on activation with Overwatch using the Darklance, after that I managed to pop him twice with a tricked-out stormgun, doing like 40 damage with two moves :v: He ended up escaping with less than ten health so I'll be ready for him next time.

Then it's on to the Berzerker Queen :ohdear: If she can counter bladestorm, I'm hosed.

Fun fact: the Muton ability to counter is only because they have rifles with bayonets. Neither Berserkers nor their Queens have bayonetted rifles...or rifles at all.

I knew I should have killed the warlock first but he showed up late in the campaign and already had powerful traits.

Mission: late game, low profile, supply raid
Warlock: planewalker, kinetic plating, mechlord, shadowstep

The corporal squad survived the regular pods and quad zombie pods. 1st round, took warlock down to 6 health no misses. Planewalks to cover, summons 2 heavy mechs, spectral army into 4 stun lancers. Mechs dual overwatch, lancers run into cover. Squad is out of cover because planewalking

there's a mod for that and it has the best name. The default setting has them only talking about 1/4 of the time they do normally, so you still get some snark and chat but it keeps the Warlock from asking Who Is John Galt.

He really is the Elder's special little child though.

This legendary run was going great until I didn't get the GTS done in time for the retaliation mission, it wasn't the one with resistance soldiers, and the Warlock showed up. Did you know that mind controlled soldiers can throw grenades that detonate wood? Also, that wood is explosive at all? RIP my sniper.

e: A faceless jumped through a roof with no way for it to get up to kill my skirmisher gently caress this

At least I beat the mission. The skirmisher is gravely wounded, I'm down a sniper, and the mind controlled ranger is out of action for a while. The warlock extracted knowledge too.

I think I'm going to have to take a loss whenever the Warlock shows up for a bit. It certainly didn't doom my campaign but it's shaky.

Jump is a special move for faceless, mechs, and chryssalids. You can't block ladders on them.

My ranger got mind controlled and threw a lure on my squad during a lost mission.

I have war of the chosen on my ssd and never want to play base xcom 2 again. I was making some space when I realised there are two giant folders side by side for xcom 2, and for WOTC. I knew people had said 'it's two separate exe files' but it seems to mean it's two separate installs. Can I trash some files from xcom 2 if I don't intend to play it again, I just indend to play WOTC? (making some space for shadow of war)

My problem is less with what he's saying than the volume. The sound effects of casting any of his powers is much louder than the rest of the game's noises.

I have an instinct that all enemy AI have a preference for using special abilities if they can (ie. Mutons will *always* throw a grenade if they can get two soldiers with it) and this is just a reflection of that.

2nd game in a row the warlock has rolled "brutal" as one of his starting traits, only this time he is the first chosen I'm facing and not the last. What a pain in the rear end.

Also the dark event that has a chance to spawn psi zombies from every killed Advent is a huge pain early on. At one point I had a mission with Lost zombies, Psi zombies from the dark event, psi zombies from 2 sectoids, and spectral zombies from the warlock...with ballistic weapons. So. Many. Bullets.

Go to launch options in Steam and add "-allowconsole" without the quotation marks. It's drat near essential, and it doesn't disable achievements.

Nah, I'm just trying to roll with it. I'm aware of the issue, and it is bullshit, but you can play around it somewhat with LoS and rotating soldiers. It's definitely worst case to get that on your first chosen so I'm just seeing how bad it is--he took like 6 Will from 4 soldiers last game because he was the 2nd chosen I encountered and could kill him really quickly.

This time I just got mag weapons and I'm doing the covert op to do his base assault asap. Brutal is forcing me to rush him, so it's at least interesting from that perspective.

I just recovered 2 out of 12 crates on this legendary supply raid because the game kept saying I was hearing sectoids juuuuust out of my field of vision and one guy from a pod escaped and survived. They were on the complete other edge of the map. My reward was 16 bucks.

Fulton levels suck.

e: It's pretty cool how on Lost levels if you get detected in concealment it spawns two lost swarms and auto-activates every single unit on the map, including ones you've never seen. Turns out it's really hard to fight six lancers, two sectoids, and thirty lost with squaddies!
