He's responsible for at least a couple of their current sponsors. I know JMI was involved with them signing NTT.

Andretti, Brown hint at further IndyCar involvement by McLaren

quote:

Andretti told Motorsport.com: “There’s still a good chance that McLaren can be at Indy with us next year, so we’ll see.

“Zak is trying to get his house in order a little bit, but the plan is to do things together in the future, hopefully at Indy.”

"hopefully at Indy" means there might also be something else.

I wonder if there's half an eye on the Supercars series now Andretti have money in that.

It had some cool wins, like Rossi's win this year and Justin Wilson's win with Coyne.

As someone that's been to both Glen races, that track is amazing and I wish they could get a different weekend. Although I'd go to Portland if they return there

I'm happy if Portland gets a race again but I'll be a bit frustrated if it's the current Glen Labor Day weekend schedule as I won't be able to time a trip home for it next year

Interesting that "the city" want the race back, they own the track (it's a public park) and that money investment is what's keeping big races from coming back.

Delta is the only direct Tokyo to PDX, more recently I've been at the mercy of work, usually United or Delta to get across the Pacific. If ANA did a flight from Haneda to Portland it would be perfect.

That article also mentions Nashville (though as a slim chance compared to Portland). I know they probably mean a street track in some parking lot but I'd love to see them run the Fairgrounds.

I honestly don't like Portland (1997 aside it always was one of the most boring races of the year) but I'll be glad to have a race in the PNW.

I enjoyed '99 for de Ferran's strategy.

Oh yeah that was cool, GDF going "gently caress your fuel saving" and blitzing the field on two stops.

Hmm would Indycar be any good on a drag strip?

IIRC there's a road course there that goes through the woods on the side of the drag strip, hideously unsafe but drag strip road courses are always fun.

Pacific Raceways is way too narrow for Indycars. Brainerd and Heartland Park Topeka are way better options for dragstrip tracks, although the latter is in pretty rough shape IIRC.

Yeah pretty much just a bunch of hot laps it was fun to watch just a shame the championship wasnt in the balance based on this choice as it was still easy for newgarden to just safely run a strat to finish 2nd.

De Ferran’s 99 was extremely good considering he was on the wrong tires.
