LOL if you think ESPN wasn't going to suspend her for going after the most high-profile owner in the NFL ESPN will always side with the NFL when one of their own pokes a stick at it

In a truly independent newsroom, which is what SportsCenter is supposed to be a part of, nothing would have happened. Of course, ESPN itself would probably argue that its on-air anchors are supposed to be totally, utterly neutral, but that's almost impossible to do in practice. Also, since the NFL gets to swing its dick around at anything it doesn't like, we get this outcome. I mean, the league has basically had ESPN acting like a servant for years.

What a joke. Also a college football game starting at 7pm pst ends around 10:30-11pm. So it ends at 2am on the east coast. Stanford has a game this Saturday with an 8pm kickoff. It's absurd. That's too late.

The fun part is that this is going to be another PR disaster for ESPN, because they're going to take fire from all sides for either A) not firing her for what she said, or B) suspending her for what she said. They are led by morons.

They're either going to be mad about late start times or be mad about being lost in the glut of games in the afternoons and be virtually nonexistent (even moreso) to the east coast, which affects recruiting, etc. It's not like the west coast teams are the only ones dealing with 8pm starts local time. Lots of teams deal with that multiple times a season. It's just odd to me that Petersen is picking this hill to die on after decades plus of teams dealing with 7 or 8 pm local starts.

They're so paranoid due to cord cutting that I'm sure they've run a lot of audience analysis and determined they have more to lose by letting Jemele Hill speak than by policing her. It's sad and wrong, but I'd be very shocked if that wasn't a primary influencer here.

I feel like this eventually hurts the NFL as now they've got people on both sides hammering them and at some point advertisers are going to find it's not worth the trouble.
This is especially stupid because the only people whining about her Trump comments are literal white supremacists.
Nah, your average Trump voter doesn't like it either because even if they don't like what he's been doing in office, you don't want people to think you voted for a white supremacist. They're mad because of how it makes them look, so they just call her a racist because they don't know what else to say, and it fits in the purview of "talking about race divides us, so black people should be quiet."
