S2 of Mr Robot ends more or less at the exact same place S1 did, the "twist" with Elliott was pointless at best and hilariously convoluted if you actually think about any one aspect of it at all, and the conspiracy stuff was incredibly unsatisfying. I got into the show for Elliott's story and him taking a back seat to this really generic conspiracy where the bad guys are effectively all-powerful and faceless and threateningly ethnic was a huge letdown.precision posted:i dunno if it makes it better or worse that i'm 100% certain this is faked, as in the girl paid him some cash but they agreed to frame it as "he traded it for the rick and morty sauce" to get attention At this point the people dogpiling on dunking on a bunch of kids getting taken advantage of by one of the biggest corporations on Earth are rapidly becoming more insufferable than the people they're making fun of.

the only kids getting taken advantage of are the poor teenagers who work at mcdonald's because in many areas literally nobody will hire you until you're 18 and shockingly enough sometimes life doesn't conveniently wait until your 18th birthday to start throwing money problems at you

I think that the rick and morty fanbase is terrible. I don't think it's ethical to massively advertise a 1-day limited return of a condement and then have like 20 sauce packets per location. Even if everything about it is stupid, it's still false advertising. Just because it's an incredibly idiot flash fad pop culture thing doesn't mean that McDonald's gets a free pass riding that fad with false advertising. It's not like they just ran out. They did not plan to be able to supply what they advertized.

The show is good, the fans, as is a constant with fans of tv shows, are loving the worst. That being said, McDonalds exists in our capitalist system, and while I virulently disagree with that system, them doing a limited release of the meme sauce is just the logical thing for them to do. Rick and Morty fans with brain problems are fervent but not really that numerous, create a bunch of stupid news stories about them hocking lovely old VAG cars for a packet of sauce and other dumb nonsense to get the normal people interested and whoa suddenly people want to eat at Micky D's again where they've been losing a poo poo ton of market share to healthy organic gluten free fair trade farm to butthole GMO free BPA free pumpkin spice alternatives like other trashy fast food joints. Nobody is being taken advantage of who doesn't deserve it. They're part of the problem. Don't hate the player etc. IRQ fucked around with this message at 00:07 on Oct 13, 2017 |

Hey guys? I know this Rick and Morty bullshit looks like autism, but don’t call it autism. Whether or not autism is the underlying condition here, the implication you’re all making is that these people’s lovely behavior is synonymous with it. It’s galling to read for somebody like me who not only is autistic, but regularly hangs with autistic people who would never take out their disappointment—no matter how intense—on fast food workers the way these loving assholes have. That’s the bottom line, guys: It doesn’t matter that they’re autistic, it matters that they’re loving assholes. DivisionPost fucked around with this message at 00:58 on Oct 13, 2017 |

I usually try not to chime in on stuff like this, esp because I still use 'tism/sperging in a lovely manner more often than I would like, but I'ma second Division's request. My mum was a special needs teacher for most of my life and I've known a lot of people on the spectrum, good people who wouldn't pull this kind of brony/Rick and Morty fanbase being lovely tomfoolery. Really it's just insulting to people on the spectrum to equate them with Rick and Morty fans anyway imo

IRQ posted:Nobody is being taken advantage of who doesn't deserve it the rank and file McDonald's employees are absolutely the ones who got the worst of it and definitely are the ones who deserve it least. even most "managers" there are barely making a dollar or two more than the new hires, and it's the youngest/newest employees that get made to deal with this poo poo. it's extra baffling because there isn't actually any necessity for fast food joints to be bad places to work; a hectic kitchen environment can be great and even stimulating, and McD's doesn't require any kind of "real cooking" so if the managers cared at all they could make the job so much less terrible
