CUPOLA MY BALLS
Bringing this list to the shop Sunday, I wanna see how it goes.

Khador Army - 75 / 75 points
[Theme] Armored Korps

(Irusk 1) Kommandant Irusk [+27]
- Conquest [37]
Greylord Forge Seer [4]
Man-O-War Drakhun [9]
Man-O-War Kovnik [0(5)]
Battle Mechaniks (max) [5]
Man-O-War Bombardiers (max) [16]
Man-O-War Demolition Corps (max) [15]
Man-O-War Shocktroopers (max) [16]
- Man-O-War Shocktrooper Officer [0(4)]

Might do irusk2 instead, not sure. I like inhospitable ground and the feat. Plus superiority making conquest speed 6 mat 8 doesn't hurt.

Irusk2's FFE is nice but there's a guy I know might be trying out gravediggers so relying on blast damage won't get me far. I've got 60 points of manowar so I can add a tanker solo or another kovnik when I pick one up. I'd like to get that bombardier solo they mentioned. My thought is irusk1 gets me pathfinder without paying for a solo, and inhospitable ground is great control against a lot of the armies I fight to keep my conquest safe a bit longer.

2-1 at local event today. That new cataphact theme is nasty. I couldn't kill much of anything with dark host. Fortunately my opponent only killed riders with his beasts and guns though. Ended up letting him clock himself. Last game my opponent spent a huge chunk of clock killing a bunch of my revenants and failing an admittedly Longshot lillith2 assassination run on denny1. She responded by clearing a zone almost by herself (little bit of help from a hellslinger and some wraith engine dark shroud application) and jamming the other zone with tons of dudes. Guy tilted hard and clocked it back to me with 30 seconds left so I took the remaining 40 minutes on my clock to kill all of his stuff for destruction points.

Lost a game to a deep dig shade1 assassination. I knew it was possible but I didn't think he would kill ALL of that stuff to clear a path. I feel dumb that I had no reason to be that far up and not clogged with banes. I had engineered a line onto wrongeye with a Stalker and popped him super early.

Big turnout for our local store but about half of the round one loses dropped. Thanks for your :tenbux: I guess.

CUPOLA MY BALLS
My manowar list fought sloan gravediggers. 2 hunters, 2 chargers, 2 units of trenchers, a bunch of commandos, various trencher solos

By the end of the game he pumped 90 damage into my conquest but 6 mechaniks restoring d3+1 really did some work, repairing 40 points over tyre game until I moved the conquest out to charge and they got shot. It was the pit 2, I quickly jammed all my manowar into zones and he couldn't really do much about it but at the same time I couldn't clear out that many trenchers with them immune to my blasts.

He underestimated how mobile a conquest with superiority is and turn 3 I charged into a group of lights and murderized them which pretty much chased out the left flank, demo corps and conquest were able to kill off the infantry there while bombardiers killed his objective. He sent a unit of commandos at the right rectangle to kill my objective but I left them alone since they couldn't hold the zone

His trenchers made lots of tough checks so the central zone was basically stalemated until the end of the game with shock troopers killing 1 or 2 a turn and the trenchers doing literally nothing to them. He conceded turn 6 because though sloan would've finished off the conquest that turn I was ahead by a point or two and he had no realistic way to score anywhere with manowar all over the place contesting.

We had like 4 players drop after round one and another 2-3 after round 2. Really sank the pool of players.

At this point I'm just trying to figure out how the double wraith engine dark host build works. I've played it like 6 times and it never feels like I am doing it right. Always commit the engines too poorly and lack the volume of attacks where i need them. I may also not be very good.

The idea being it's got ranged game, and then there's a ton of knockdown effects to mitigate low mat and capitalise on the flank from theme. (And trash on the free booter). I'm not sure that flank works with slams, but the Risen do double duty on running to help with throwaway flank, and also potentially as things to be slammed into for extra dice. The devil dogs I only chose because I thought they still had trash, but actually they still have more knock down, plus more warm bodies for flank bonus.

I think knocking something down them charging it with Rutger shaw and then his mangler should be able to kill anything, if I can ever pull it off.

Its kind of the first time I've built a list around the list itself and kind of ignored the caster, but actually he's got knockdown / stationary effects himself, and his feat means I can potentially get him in the fray without much risk? Is this awful? I don't currently own the devil dogs or freebooter, so would like to know what you think before I pull the trigger.

This is interesting. I've taken a break from Warmachine while it got its themes sorted out and was looking of getting my Mercs back out. 40k has been fun but I wanna see some rockin robot action.

I like this list. As pMagnus with Irregulars seems like a good place to start. Hell, I started Warmachine with him so I might as well jump back in with him. I think Magnus really wants 4 jacks though, 2 Nomads and 2 Renegades is a good start as he really likes a nice, meaty battlegroup for both his feat and to abuse Resourceful. One Nomad getting Iron Aggression and the other getting Death Ward is a nice combo. Lets you set up that 1-2 Combo that works so well for me.

I love the Devil Dogs but damned if I don't think they come up short a lot of the time. They really need the Piper for tough and pathfinder to just survive as they will fold under light fire. I think the Flank Bonus makes the Freebooter interesting. I've run a Freebooter with them before (hell I even painted one to match their eclectic color scheme) but it always comes up short. The new Jack Marshall rules means I should try it again but I usually find a ranged jack better. I've done well with a Mariner jack and a Minimum unit to escort it up the board. Rovers are great for Jack Marshal as well just due to the three initials.

That said I think the Devil Dogs are more of a fun unit than a "good" choice. They usually die quickly and their abilities are pretty weak. I love them from a fluff standpoint and they were fun to paint but I would keep that in mind before pulling the trigger so to speak. The Freebooter tends to be "ehh" as well. Getting a knockdown from a Renegade Rocket is great but it never seems to line up and you end up paying for something that tends to be listed as "Not a Nomad". I always want it to be better than it is. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Speaking of, I always take Rutger Shaw and Taryn di Rossi as a pair. Taryn gives out Shadowfire which can sometimes gift-wrap a game for you. Shadowfire a pair of blockers and just fire a pair of Renegade rockets into a Caster's face. The Mariner does well here as I love that range. I really like the Rover as a Jack Marshall'd jack. The three initials lets you really get work out of the Order despite not having focus and its meaty enough to survive to long enough. The Mangler is cool too though.

The Tactical Arcanist Corps was my bread and butter in Mk2 when they came out but I've not been hot on them since Mk3. I think the new Siege Crawler makes them good again but otherwise, ehh. The Smoke clouds are neat and but they are too slow for pMagnus who tends to use his feat to get the jump. I'd probably swap them out for something.

I dig the Risen and think Steinhammer with a Basher is super neato. I'm still building my list with a more of a Steelhead emphasis for free points but I do think you are on to something. I'm totally going to find a place for Steinhammer with a Basher. Give it a go and let me know what you think. I really love the Mercenary Faction as there is always another way, another style to try.

For what its worth, here is my first thoughts about Irregulars and I've been drinking...

I'm not in CID, if you don't mind, what was changed? I've used them before for 'choose column' on the commodore cannon, and they could also be used in cygnar for the same thing on shooting casters like Caine or Kara, or on weapon crews that shoot heavies, if cygnar has any. Would be ok on horgenhold mortars in mercs.

Funny how despite them being in minions, there aren't any minion solos that can really use choose column who don't already have something similar like Alten Ashley.

Got 2 more Slaughterfleet games in under Gaspy3. Both games kind of went the same way with my opponent shredding most of my army and then gaspy3 walks up and assassinates their caster with a huge stack of focus. I don't think it is so much slaughterfleet as it is Gaspy3 is supergood. Killed Ashlynn (not on feat turn) and Garreth. Gang fighter is cool but doesn't make up for the infantry backbone being terrible. Although Gerlak did pac man his way through a unit of gunmages.

In my first game's opponents defense we agreed we would play dumb and bad things. Lianese Resistance seems kind of good?

I think I'm off my slaughterfleet bullshit until Cryx Christmas and my other pirates come out. I still think Scourge will be better with Skarre3.

Counterblast costing one is neat, you can have a gun boar fire his cannon, boost to hit and boost damage, apply counterblast, and get yet another shot with targ! Also cute to save a point for last-ditch self defense on arkadius, or spiny on any of the close range gators.

Lynus & Edrea? His first aid can now heal any living model (no friendly faction limit) and his applied knowledge doesn't have to be used on warrior models (as of the latest update). Her arcane bolt was replaced by a zap with a 4" AoE (POW 12 I think) that as well as blowing up light infantry (and she has true sight of course) removes any clouds it touches. And yes, POW 6 blast damage isn't amazing - but Magic Ability 7 and Truesight makes her scary for lightly armoured stealth units like Bloodrunners or Daughters of the Flame - and truesight allows her to find targets behind enemy cloudwalls so she can blow them away.

That is pretty neat. I'm not sure when you would use applied knowledge on a non-warrior, as generally you want your warbeast / warjack to destroy your enemy, not hamper them but leave them alive, good for shooting heavies though, I suppose! Could also be very useful on budget heavies or against armor stacking though. Good stuff.
