Pffft, guess someone hasn't heard of a little thing called the Constitution. That poo poo can't be changed because it's what our country was founded on. The 2nd Amendment to it says so!

If you look at the number of them used in crimes then you'll have to give to the conclusion that a 75mm cannon is way less of a danger to the public than, say, a lovely .22.

Ban handguns and allow free ownership of AT guns, is what I'm saying.

Yeah, when the police find a crater after a missing person report. They just look over at Gary, the one with the Flak gun across the road.

The cost to purchase something like that, if it isn't a deactivated show piece, is in the $megabux range. It's not something you need to worry about. We're talking tens of thousands of dollars just for the trailer that hauls the cannon.

People don't even commit crimes with automatic-weapons in the US. You can pick up a fully automatic submachine gun for a few thousand bucks in most states. The last time something even remotely crime-related happened with an automatic was when some gun shop owner defended himself in 1990.

The "high capacity magazine ban" of 1994 banned pistol mags over 10 rounds which prompted manufacturers to make small, concealable pistols. Why buy a pistol that's sized to hold 20 rounds if you can only hold 10? (Psssst: those are exactly the sort of tiny guns gang-bangers prefer. The "high capacity magazine ban of 1994" made the sort of guns gang members prefer more popular)

It literally had the exact opposite effect the law was intended to produce. It made all the small, lovely, pistols that the gang-bangers love popular while making the large, hard to conceal, target pistols illegal.

If you're going to ban by caliber make it .25 and .32(whatever).

quote:

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) -- A Brazilian woman who was shot six times in the head after an altercation with her ex-husband was out of the hospital and talking to the media on Saturday.

"I know this was a miracle," 21-year-old housewife Patricia Goncalves Pereira told Globo TV. "Now I just want to extract the bullets and live my life."

Pereira was shot Friday in the small city of Monte Claros, about 900 kilometers (560 miles) north of Sao Paulo, after quarreling with her former husband, who was reportedly upset because she refused to get back together with him. She was also shot once in the hand.

Doctors could not explain why the .32-caliber bullets did not penetrate Pereira's skull and didn't even need to be extracted immediately.

"I can't explain how something like this happened," surgeon Adriano Teixeira said, adding that the bullets were lodged under the woman's scalp.

Yah that's a .32 for ya. The .25-.32's are popular gang calibers and..... well...
they're completely inadequate.

but, they're small, and hold less than 10 rounds so they're legal under most of the "sensible gun laws" the democrats I vote for propose :/

Fun fact: cannons like that are actually perfectly legal and non-restricted in Canada! All you need is to apply for a normal firearms license (the same you would use for almost any other gun) and you can theoretically take it deer hunting.

Explosive ammo is a different story, but there's technically nothing stopping you from loading it with AP ammo and turning Bambi's mom into a fine mist.

I'll always remember the guy from the US went to Calgary during the Stampede, one of the most popular events in the city, and kept getting accosted by people asking whether he'd been to the Stampede yet. He wrote a letter to the editor to a Calgary newspaper saying that he wish he had brought his gun with him to Canada because these people made him feel scared.
