clinton supporters are generaly second-wave feminists and the ideology of second-wave feminism is basically "ok well if the system sucks, work within it and employ it your advantage and break all the glass ceilings to fix it" which can also coexist within an oligarchal system. third-wave feminism is seemingly antagonistic to oligarchy by means of supporting every woman, basically. the other issue is like, third-wave feminism is pretty much all millennials have grown up with, while second-wave feminists grew up in a system that was super garbage, so imo their desire to see change via tokenism kind of validates their efforts, while younger feminists have greater systemic representation since they were born, and thus don't see as much value in that. the biggest difference is third-wave also focuses on lbgt, minority, and class rights, from what i've studied. so like, the age and class divide is kind of why you see older and richer women focus on clinton more, i think? i mean u can ultimately fingerwave too and go "well they're just classist" which imo is true to a degree but i think if you see it as the underlying philosophy of a generation of super politically motivated women, the divide is a lot more clear... i think the economic differences that divide both generations is kind of like what makes that divide greater.

like i can sort of get why older women really want to see clinton being prez and i insanely want to see a woman become prez too bc i think it would be badass as gently caress, but like, our system is so utterly hosed that i think a lot of people cantsee "well would i rather be dying and starving or help assist a generational shift of social change" and i guarantee you most people will choose not starving every loving time. if we still had a good economy the past 10 years, i think millennial women would have overwhelmingly went for clinton over bernie.
