It should be noted those are breeders, not hoarders.

Reilly, our big boy (seriously, one of the largest cats I have ever seen, and not a bit of fat on him), is getting fixed today. He is reportedly Not Happy at the vet's. Here he is in one of his more dignified moments:

I may have said this before, but if you ever get a chance to pet an otter, at least a sea otter, do it. They are basically the softest thing ever. I refuse to believe that the little smooth otters aren't that soft too.

They do look amazing to pet

When I was TAing dive classes in Monterey we'd have to have a couple of extra TAs on every dive to kayak around and scare the otters away from our dive floats, which were inflatable. It wasn't easy, because you're not legally allowed to touch an otter or even get close to them. So the end result was that we'd kayak around them at a distance of several dozen meters, yelling and waving our paddles impotently in the air while they climbed on top of our dive floats and popped every single one of them. Seriously, they'd climb on one, their claws would pop it, and they would stand there confused at it sank slowly into the water. As soon as there was nothing left to stand on they'd swim to the next float and repeat the process. We were out of dive floats before we were halfway through the first dive.

excuse the low-quality phone pic, this is one of my parents' cats. He has some Siamese in him and, like every Siamese I have known, loves to be spanked/beat-up on. He's normally incredibly reserved with my husband but after he started smacking his back and sides the cat couldn't get enough of it.
