I like Brad, but I can't help but be super disappointed that Jr didn't win. Fate seemed to be doing all it could to give him that race, but it just didn't happen. It has been a long time since I've been this disappointed in the finish of a game/race/match. Edit- BTW, am I the only one who thinks that Bowyer's outburst was ridiculous and indefensible? Man, I get frustration, but you're a professional, and by trying to make your team look like the assholes all you did was show that you're the rear end in a top hat instead. And you're right, he didn't become a shithead today, he's always been one. But the HMS thing, I have a little bit of sympathy for him there because that team was F-grade material. Bowyer knew he was walking into a tough situation, but I don't think he had an idea of how bad it was going to be. They sold him a lie, like they were scrappy little team that would be the next Furniture Row, but in reality they were likely borderline insolvent before the season even began. From my understanding, at the end Bowyer wasn't even getting paid- if that's true then I can't blame him for throwing that team under the bus. But there is no excuse for today.

Having run the iRacing version of that track it I believe the race will be either incredibly boring or incredibly clowncar. The chicanes at turn 3 and the tri-oval just add to the stupidity.

The same reason they didnt want to go to EFI, or composite bodies, or away from pushrods, or to magnesium wheels, etc. The concept of the rules set was that it was locked in from long ago, and the point was not to have spending/technology wars. Thats partially from Petty kicking everyones rear end with better technology/equipment for decades, but also because of the general philosophy that the cars were supposed to be boring everyday drivers, and the teams and drivers the stars. Of course, when the budgets exploded, the technology war just moved into the stuff you couldnt see... internals on the engines, chassis geometry and assembly techniques, building 20 cars and trashing all but a handful when they were .000001 off on the shaker rig, etc.
