The Turbo versions are a real treat. I haven't driven a 3S-GE one but I'm told (and also believe) it's far superior to the 5S-FE lump North America got, especially the BEAMS version.

Its a shame shipping is so steep because 3S-GE motors sell for gently caress all here, Beams are ok but for the price they go for you might as well get the 3S-GTE out of a caldina. A mate is building one with a 2GR-FE, im hoping to get him to do a track day with me to see whos faster. Probably him as hes far more talented haha.
