There’s also the darksabers ultimate craft pack that has everything the XWAUP has plus a bunch of extra ships. Also there’s a new campaign in the works from DTM which should be fun (set in the rebels era).

Edit: also find the XWA hacker GUI version so you can hack the exe to support widescreen resolutions. Anything over 1080p crashes the game still unfortunately.

I just realized the 27th is also Super Mario Odyssey day. That means that not only can I keep an eye on this trainwreck, but I can entertain myself with an actual, released, most likely good game while they spew their drivel.

How on earth did they decide to do five hours worth of stuff? They could barely fill what time they had at Gamescom, and even that was boring as gently caress. Condense it into thirty minutes or something you morons, less is more.

It's a judgment call by the editors, do you potentially annoy an actor who might refuse to work with you in future or badmouth the film, or leave them in the dark so they don't refuse to help with marketing the film and can't bother you with complaints.

Or in Mae's case give her no thought at all as she's a non-entity.
Makes sense, I guess. There probably is a contract clause about that. Still a dick move.
I mean, in Sandi's case, given what little I've seen of her acting, it was probably for the best of the film. Then again, the consensus is that it was crap anyway.

I don't know about XW:A, but at least X-Wing and TIE Fighter fans have some kind of updated engine replacement to play with.

But to be honest, and just to be a bit “kids these days” about it, I don't think any of the games in that series could be (re)made and survive these days. Punishingly difficult under the best of circumstances; always designed to be unfair, so those circumstances would never arise; numerous fail-states being added mid-mission and without warning; and often completely obscure bonus objectives — even harder than just the base ones — required to move forward with various side plots.

Without all kinds of pointers and tutorialising and visual feedback, the general gamer of today would just declare the whole thing stupid and impossible, and not even the current faiblesse for “hard games” (your souls-likes and legacy games) would prepare them — those games rely on observation and timing of attacks and counters, and those old games would have none of that nonsense.

Welcome to the Imperial Navy, pilot — here, have a TIE/ln with no shields. Now go take out those half-dozen waves of X/Y-wings and Z-95s.
Good job, pilot, you didn't explode (much). Here, have a TIE Interceptor, now go take out the same half-dozen waves, and also four waves of A-wings (good luck keeping them on-screen for more than 4 frames at a time).
You survived? Nice job. Now take this Gunboat and hunt down the Millennium Falcon. Alive, please. There's a good boy…

I hope it hurt. I have little doubt she funded that film with both money and equipment. I hope they took her for a ride. I hope they lied their asses off to her to string her along for as long as they could. I hope they told her nothing, even after release and they knew that her already bit part she was really looking forward to was actually cut.

That look of angry, sad, betrayal she had is exactly what thousands of people also felt as she “keeps doing what she’s doing”!

If this is the only way she’ll be able to feel even a fraction of what she’s caused to countless other people, good for whatever mythical creature or voodoo doll is causing her grief.

Maybe she can go design some loving shoes for her shoe design company or something to feel better about it. Or go take a dive in the ocean and discover new creatures with her degree in marine biology. Or go put her degree in international marketing to work on another scam sale. Or maybe she’ll think of a way to fix it since she’s the smartest person in the room.

Or maybe she can just go back to being a washed up, poo poo-tier former porn actress who married an equally washed up former Hollywood director who was kicked out of the industry so hard he had to sell cars, and who found restitution in that pathetic life style by accidentally discovering a twisted way to become filthy rich by lying and cheating everybody and their uncle.

Tough choices but I’m sure she’ll make the wrong one that will hurt the most people so long as it propels her forwards. :colbert:

That's pretty dead-on. I remember I could never complete the training mission in XvT where you have to intercept the incoming proton torpedoes with your concussion missiles, before they take out a Victory-class or something.

Also....how hilarious was it that Victory-Class Star Destroyers were more of a threat because they shot concussion missiles at you and Imperial Star Destroyers couldn't? God drat I hated VSDs.

Serious question. Do actors really find out if their scenes were cut, especially if all of them were cut (LMAO), when they go to see the movie on premiere night?

Last time I remember hearing something like that was about Christopher Lee being frustrated that his character's scene (Saruman's death in LOTR III) was entirely removed from the theatrical cut. I think it was his only scene in that movie. They had it back for the Extended Edition in the DVD.

This isn’t really a problem if you’re an actor or actress.

However when you’re basically “Extra #42, ‘Vic’s Mom’” or something similar, yes it is.

Though I figure they were using CIG equipment and likely Sandis money so she was probably strung along until the bitter end.

Look on the bright side, Sandi: This was only the alpha release. All your dreams will definitely come true in the DVD version. They probably just need more money to get it on DVD. Don’t pussy out now when the team needs you most! Don’t be a loving leaver. Dreams are right around the corner!

Seriously, it is just perfect, and I sit here and laugh my rear end off about it. I mean, have as much money as you want, it will only get you so far in regard to your self esteem. After all, we all end up staring in the same mirror every morning....irregardless of wether you do it in a multi-million mansion or a small rented place or actually in a pocket mirror hanging somewhere in your refugee tent. After all, you have to deal with the person you are, and no amount of money are bought friends can improve that. You can of course create such a huge shell made out of arrogance or whatever to lie to yourself for quite some time, but I doubt anyone ever managed to uphold that for too long without external influence like drugs or whatever.

That's why I don't feel bad at cracking very, very bad jokes at people like Sandi or Ben. Both are on record for beeing lovely persons in how they treat others.

I live my life with the same simple motto since over three decades, a motto I learned from my parents: treat others like you want to be treated. Irregardless of where you are in society, life and whatever, and irregardless on where they are. If I behave like a dick, I want to be treated like a dick, so my auto-calibration kicks in and tells me "dude, stop beeing a dick!". It's actually loving easy to treat everyone with respect who deserves it, and I haven't yet understood why this simple concept seems to be so hard for some people.

It was marvellous, but definitely of a very specific era. :allears:

To be fair to TIE Fighter, it wasn't as hard as it would appear on the surface, the developers of the game managed to avoid these issues by some quite clever mission design. I replayed TIE fighter a few months ago with a more analytical eye and realised how they did this: the majority of early missions (when you were in unshielded craft) were weighed heavily towards escort missions (where you weren't the target of the attackers), large engagements (where your allies were the main target) and scanning/scouting missions (where, again, you were rarely shot at, and usually by slower/less manoeuvrable ships), albeit with the exception of one infamous mission (you stool pigeon of the emperor!). It wasn't until you got shielded ships that the difficulty notably ramped up because at that point the mission started having equal strength fighters that were added in to specifically attack the player.

That said, even if the difficulty wasn't an issue, I can't see a modern X-Wing/TIE Fighter game being made due to the simple fact that they're just too slow and complicated compared to modern games. Compare the slow flight speed, engine management and careful gunnery that XW/TF/XvT/XWA had to modern iterations like the space combat in Battlefront 2 and you can totally see a publisher saying "hell no" to a proposed new space sim. The game would be very niche and only get a very small audience making it, frankly, not worth the publisher's/developer's time and money to make.
