I'm still trying to parse the last panel. Does she try to bribe him in to calling her mom and he snatches the 20 anyway? What world does that make sense in?

It kinda makes sense if you realize that Anne Eiffel is motivated by money and thinks she can bribe her way into her son expressing some semblance of love. Les isn't above taking her money, but he's not going to compromise on his feelings.

Yeah I guess it is the thing that makes the most sense it just doesn't read very well. They tried to do too much in that one panel I think.

Arlo and Janis Tina's Groove Classic (March 13, 2006) Arlo and Janis Classic (March 13, 1996) Garfield Classic (March 13, 1986) Good comics today. * * * Heathcliff has been great lately. The Lockhorns is surprisingly with it and funny despite being a legacy strip; I like its meanness in the same way I like Dinette Set. I've said it before, but this storyline in Popeye is a real good one, and I'm looking forward to seeing how y'all like it (King Blozo is basically this thread's patron saint, and pezozees is just such a great word for currency) Intelligent Life, man, I feel like Reddick is a talented illustrator who's just cynically chasing the same audience that made the Big Bang Theory run for eight billion seasons or whatever. A sharp writer telling him what to do and making him stretch himself instead of pumping out pop/nerd culture fanservice could result in a good thing.
