I used to work with a guy who went to college in the D.C. area.

He was driving home from his job in the wee hours of the morning in his college‐budget Cadillac.

A cop pulls him over, sees a white face, and waves him on. This happened multiple times while he held that job.

My coworker was pretty racist himself, but he did at least see what was going on there and think it was hosed‐up.

e: Bad snype, but getting shot by racist cops rates decently on the occupational hazard scale, I’d wager.

It's probably cheaper to scrap and replace it than to go through a repair and inspection like that too.

Just saw this Saturday night in Phila. A Dodge Bro-rider with an enormous LED rig mounted in, or under, the front bumper (I couldn't really get a close look because I value my night-vison & retinas). Wouldn't have been so bad maybe if it was. I don't know, pointed down towards the pavement. But no.

I find that even when they try and aim them down, the "overspray" is still brighter and more painful to see, even peripherally, than standard high beams.

Almost like the designers didn't give a gently caress about useful light patterns or optics, and just tossed on as many LEDs as they could cram on a PCB for cheap.

Yeah, I think so too. Which still makes her pretty drat lucky anyway, though. I've witnessed lightning striking a tree about 70 or 80 feet from where I was standing, and if there's anything that will make you lose bladder control, that would be it. I was standing, barefoot, on the concrete garage floor, when I felt (like for a fraction of a second) my feet tingling, and then, pow. The shock wave was really impressive, and it was very hot. The portion of the tree below where the bolt hit it immediately began to steam. Didn't kill the tree though, it's still out there growing just fine.

Had lightning strike a pole outside my house about 30-40' away from where I was sitting, didn't feel anything but when it hit all I saw was light for a good few seconds and I couldn't hear poo poo for about a minute.

I had lightning strike the transformer down the street from my house earlier this year, and the weirdest thing was that all the power cut out about 2 seconds before the flash. Must have been something about the charge differential that led to the strike.
