Homecoming Spider-Man was the perfect Spider-Man and Peter Parker, a dweeby fast talking kid with a heart of gold who probably has reams of inner dialogue expressed by his facial expressions and body language

Man, watching ASM and trying to have Garfield and Stone pass as teenagers just took me out of it. Especially the second one.

I still haven't seen the Amazing movies. Had a bad feeling about the first one, and stayed away. Homecoming was exactly what I wanted out of a MCU Spider-Man.

Amazing 1 is alrightish, Amazing 2 is an insane fever dream. Homecoming is fantastic, Raimi 1 is alright but poorly aged, Raimi 2 is great, Raimi 3 is garbage.

Raimi Spider-Man 2 is way better than Homecoming Both had really great villains, but no action setpiece in Homecoming even comes close to the train sequence in Spider-Man 2. Also when MJ sees that Peter is Spider-Man, that scene is perfection.

ASM2 suffers from having a supposed 45 minutes of finished film cut out at the last minute so next to nothing makes any sense. There's an entire sub plot with Mary Jane that's missing and is the whole reason Gwen was willing to leave NYC.

I haven't seen Spider-Man 3 in 10 years, but I remember thinking it was good, a fine continuation of Spider-Man 2, for like the first half, but then took a hard turn off the rails. The tipping point was Bruce Campbell's scene.

It's cool, but I don't think it's any better than the boat in Homecoming. I also think the New Yorker Pride with the little kids thing is very corny and I kinda hate whenever Spidey is unmaksed. I know movies demand it, but it's in the tier right under Bat Bullets.

I'm also glad we didn't get some weird Spider-Man 4 where John Malcovich was Vulture and Anne Hathaway was his daughter/a female Vulture. The Homecoming version of Vulture was the best way to do that character. You just know that Raimi would have kept the Vulture close to his original appearance and not updated much.

The way Mary Jane is in the Raimi movies just ruins them. Dunst is making the best of it, but she is literally the worst character. All she does is exist to be lusted after by Peter, and any of her storylines that don't involve getting kidnapped smack of bad writers thinking they need "something for the ladies" in an action movie. God I barely remember what she does in 2. Over all i find the Raimi ones don't hold up that well. There's good and even great stuff in it, with Molina and Simmons being real stand outs (even though Doc Ocks origin is just really silly, even for comic books). I heard a rumor Ernie Hudson could be JJJ in Spider-Man SATs, which would be pretty cool, but i doubt anyone could ever match Jk Simmons. Malkovich would have probably been in the movie for 2 minutes before passing his torch onto his daughter.

She wanted to see if kissing her fiance had the same magic as kissing a masked stranger that just saved her from being gangraped. It didn't.

Rami's spider man movies are overrated. They're pretty good but nowhere near the masterpieces people make them out to be. They are far better than the ASM movies though. I think they Rami movies are so highly regarded because there was an absolute truckload of lovely comic book movies from 2000-2005, so having a good movie made people think it was better than it actually was. Edit- Simmons is the best casting in the history of comic book movies, no question.
