I was half-hoping Bonesingers would be good, half-hoping they'd be bad so I don't have to pick one up. They are not worth 70 points. Spiritseers are 45 points and Farseers on foot are 100/105 and they can cast real psychic powers. Eldar lean heavily on smart usage of very strong psychic powers and the Bonesinger brings none. The healing's just ok.

Do you think a maxed-out Guardian blob would be good in an Alaitoc list with a Warlock or Spiritseer constantly casting Conceal on them? -2 to hit is pretty loving resilient and they can march out in the open, perhaps escorting an Avatar of Khaine.

It's just not worth it. A Wraithlord with two 15-point guns and two flamers (plus mandatory ghostglaive) is only 151 points, 133 with shuricats. That's 15.1 and 13.1 "points per wound." He costs half of a Wraithlord, which already a middling unit in the new dex. Wraithguard cost even fewer ppw. Yes, Wraithlords degrade so there's a tiny bit of utility there but generally speaking if they want your Wraithlord dead (for some reason) they can make it dead.

You need real psykers in an Eldar list.

I think the way to run guardians is in a unit of 20 with 2 shuriken cannon platforms. Spend a CP to webway assault and back them up with a farseer skyrunner who zooms in to doom whatever you want hosed up. Footslogging guardians never seem to accomplish anything for me. They do OK in Wave serpents, but with the new codex CP became much cheaper for Eldar.

I'm pretty sure the Bonesinger isn't meant to be powerful and it's a good thing that a made-to-order model's special rules don't make it a must-include but rather a fun thing to toss into a casual game.

You could always go the previous route and run it as a Warlock or Farseer if you just love the model.

For those I just basecoat with citadel fenrisian grey, then do thin coats of pretty watered down white on the feathers, painting less and less of them until I get a gradient I'm happy with. It was probably 3 or 4 passes with white but it dries so quickly you can just keep working on the same mini.

I massively agree with this. It's probably usable in completely casual games but nothing anyone will run out and get to destroy their opponents army with. That would cause quite a lot of ill feeling once it was unavailable again.

:wom: will blow your mind.
I was thinking of summoning a herald of nurgle (easy to cast on 4+ on up to 3 dice) to heal d3 on my demon prince/plague drones/crawler. The power casts on a 5+. Also if he is in 6" he increases the str of the demon prince to S8 melee and the drones to S7 2d6 flamers.

The herald is also 70pts. If that is bad for eldar does that make it bad for deathguard too? I thought he did enough to warrant an include.

In other news I guess I should mention that the event MSP and I went to which limited lists to one detachment (with an optional super heavy aux at -2cp) went great. Almost everyone had a great time, no one had poo poo that was too scary to deal with, most of the armies we're troops heavy with one or two fun units. 1500pts is an interesting spot.

They also included a quiz which included game lore and rules questions which MSP won. Then MSP also went on to win the big trophy for best total score (games/lore/painting).

Oh, they also gave out the 1000$+ in prizes all based on lottery so no one was too pressured to be cut-throat in their games. The win-loss record only mattered for bragging rites and trophies. The first two raffles MSP and I both won something. He got a brick of dice and two different dark imperium get started paint sets that have those half pots and starter brushes and some snap fit models while I won the getting started nids box that has the gargoyles, tyrant and warriors.

They ran a nice little one day con. $50 entry was worth the 4 fun games, free lunch (burgers/dogs/sides), custom objective markers, CP counter, prizes and tee-shirt.

For 70 points, you get a guy who can heal, AND does other stuff, and you can summon him to wherever you want, and you can summon him only if you need him, or spend that 70 points on other stuff if you don't.

I'd like to hear the thread's opinion on a list I've been working on. I've been trying to come up with something reasonably fluffy for Blood Angels but that's also effective enough to win games.

Battalion Detachment +3CP (Imperium - Blood Angels) [103 PL, 2000pts]
**HQ **
-Commander Dante

-Captain Tycho

**Troops**
-Intercessor Squad
4x Intercessors with Bolt Rifle
1x Sergeant with Chainsword

-Intercessor Squad
4x Intercessors with Bolt Rifle
1x Sergeant with Chainsword

- Scout Squad
5x Scouts with Camo Cloaks/Sniper Rifles

**Elites **
-Company Veterans
4x Jump PackCompany Veterans with Storm Bolter and Power Axe
1x Veteran Sergeant with Thunder Hammer and Storm Bolter

-Company Veterans
4x Jump PackCompany Veterans with Storm Bolter and Power Axe
1x Veteran Sergeant with Thunder Hammer and Storm Bolter

Fast Attack [10 PL, 180pts]
Inceptor Squad
3x Inceptors with Assault Bolters

**Heavy Support **
-Devastator Squad
4x Devastators with Lascannon
1x Sergeant with Storm Bolter
1x Armorium Cherub

-Predator
4x Lascannon

**Flyer **
-Stormraven Gunship
2x Stormstrike missile launcher
Twin lascannon
Twin multi-melta
2x Hurricane bolter

**Dedicated Transport **
-Razorback
Twin lascannon

-Razorback
Twin lascannon

The list is very simple in concept- Tycho sits in the back and buffs the heavy weapons, with the Intercessors and Scouts providing screening against deepstrike. The Stormraven moves forward into rapid fire range of the hurricane bolters and Dante deepstrikes into position along with the Veterans and Inceptors. Dantes force puts out a hilarious 64 bolter shots and 18 heavy bolter equivalent shots all rerolling hits which should be enough to maul the hell out of the enemy infantry while the backfield lascannons/Stormraven hopefully punish anything larger or tougher than t4. Dante and the Veterans then have the option of trying to get into assault.

My biggest concern is that I feel like the list lacks staying power but that feels like a pretty solid alpha strike to start the match with so fewer bodies may not be an issue.

Believe me, they won't. I got fed up with them accomplishing nothing and getting killed by a stiff breeze so now they're replaced by a naked terminator squad which is 12 more points for a unit that will function as an actual fire magnet as well as being more dangerous because of the fists.

Blood Angels don't get the cheap fists yet, so it's actually a 45 point difference. Still worth thinking about, I suppose.

So if one wanted to start a CSM army, would using 30k models for Chaos Marines and Terminators and then getting legion upgrades from FW be the way to go? I've heard the plastic kits for most of the Chaos units are pretty old and the idea of running a Chaos army that was still using Heresy era armor sounds cool and they look much better. Would the look be too jarring for an army that would also include daemonic stuff like Heldrakes, Helbrutes, Obliterators, etc?
