so let's say I want to get a hipster keyboard, what should I get? things I want: - no number pad, but everything else - is that an 87-key layout? - mechanical switches - no real clicky-clack (open floor plan ) - no LED bullshit, I'm not a *~GaMeRz~* - maybe some colored-plastic keys if they look awesome

Against my better judgement I loaned my model m to one of the helpdesk guys who wanted to try it out. I'm 90% sure it's older then he is. Don't do what I did and get reds on your first keyboard. They actuate with miniscule amounts of pressure which leads to thousands of typos as you brush your fingers on the wrong keys.

i suggest ordering one of the pbt keycap sets from wasd along with your keyboard, instead of the code which has led lighting (you don't need that) and clear switches (you probably would prefer browns)
