also i'm really glad that style of stemware (for champagne I think?) has largely fallen out of modern use

wikipedia confirms that is the urban legend but that the glass design predates marie antoinette

the only thing more of a pain to drink from than a champagne flute is a champagne coupe, and the coupe is harder to pour champagne into imo

yup. i think they were only used because of an easier process to make them compared to flutes, until modern times, and maybe out of lingering french spite (a powerful force)
