Darchangel posted:Most people just don't have the Maker mentality. I look at stuff all the time and realize that I could do that. I don't get the impostor syndrome as much because several people I associate with are Makers, members of the local Maker Space, etc. My dad was a machinist before getting his engineering degree (which apparently makes him rare among engineers, LOL), and his brother is still a machinist, so I've basically got a background in fixing and building stuff from the get-go. Dad has a 9" lathe and a Bridgeport mill, and has had various welders and fab tools since I could remember. That's kinda where I'm at though - "why should I expect anyone to be willing to pay for what I can do?! Everyone can do this stuff!" Meanwhile (for one example) I look at the list of people I'd trust to build a better 13B than I'd do myself, and it's barely over one hand nationwide.

I do mostly console but having it on the couch while wife watches something is swell. Mario is sitting at home already waiting for me but I'll probably wait to play it later. Stardew Valley is too addicting at the moment (playing on PC, admittedly). Golf Story was awesome as well.

Rhyno posted:Oh hey Switch owner. Do you find you use it more on your tv or as a handheld? I find myself exclusively handheld when it comes to Zelda. It is really convenient to just start/stop right when you want. I use the TV when playing Mariokart with the kids. Handheld is good because I play it at night when the kids are in bed and the wife is sleeping. It is also good because then the battery dies and if I had it plugged in I fear I would never go to sleep because "just one more side quest, just one more shrine que...SHINY THING IN THE DISTAAAAAANCE". I have never been a huge gaming nerd, not even a small gaming nerd but Zelda is the dopest game I have ever played. As far as the maker mentality I feel like I can design and make a lot. The main quiestion for me, is it worth my time and effort. And in most cases I find it’s better to just buy what I need. But I love having access to a lathe. Lost a barrel adjuster nut for my bike and wanted to ride after work, so just cut a new one over lunch at work.

The S5 13B I have has no compression thanks to the previous owner letting it sit without oiling it and covering all the ports. It spins fine, but the apex seals are all stuck retracted. I was hoping to not have to open it up, but ATF isn't doing the trick to dissolve the carbon. I've not rebuilt an engine personally, but I think I can handle it. I've got a couple of the video series on rebuilding rotaries. Sadi posted:As far as the maker mentality I feel like I can design and make a lot. That's why I think 3D printers are important. I need to get one - I already have a few things I could fix with parts made on it.

I haven't owned a suit in 20+ years. I did up the buttons because I've lost all that weight and I can do up the buttons. I love the blue but it just doesn't work with the theme. I am hoping to make a deal so I can keep this one as well as the replacement. Edit: this was bought from an Ebay custom suit vendor. Prior to this we looked at rentals and buying cheap suits and the best price we could find for a 3 piece in blue was $240 for the rental and $310 for a cheap JCPenny option. This was $109. I sent them an email asking if I can keep this suit for a discounted rate when we buy the groomsmen suits. Rhyno fucked around with this message at 03:51 on Oct 27, 2017 |
