Expiring products need to be gathered and rung up by the employees anyway, so it's not like carrying to a charity organization's car instead of the dumpster would mean any extra work on that front. The manager making one phonecall to a non-profit to set up a pick up time is such a small thing that calling it an "administrative cost" is bullshit.

Having worked for one of those food bank supply organizations, it's more efficient for someone at the food bank place to call the restaurants or grocery stores and organize the pickup schedule.

Everybody should give $$ to their local food bank suppliers. It's the key and unheralded piece in making food banks, food pantries, and meals for the homeless and low-income possible.

Sorry for worst snype!

Both are great. I guess I'll be the one to tell you... are you sitting down?.... there's more than one kind of bread.

Is it just pumpkin gelatin on a pie crust?

Muffins are a small individual bread loaf essentially. Quickbread, more specifically. They are usually fairly sweet and more often than not populated with some sort of fruit, but other varieties such as bran, cornmeal, and chocolate are also popular.

They are most often eaten plain, grilled, or warmed, for breakfast. Sometimes with butter or jam. Some are frosted, but those are the exception.

If you have only had oily muffins you've missed out. Good muffins are loving amazing.

The closest thing I can think of is an iced bun. Which is literally sweet bread with icing on it, and it is very nice so I am on board with this in theory.

The only American muffins I've eaten or even seen, are really stodgy and oily cakes, usually un-iced, without any of the flavour of ginger parkin or syrup cake.

If they are supposed to be bread then that explains the name at least.

Try some homemade banana nut muffins, or maybe some gingerbread. If there's a quickbread, you can probably make muffins out of it. For example, Irish Soda Bread Muffins..

I mean, they are a cakey bread. Bread is a pretty wide spectrum. I think muffins are more often covered with granular sugar or cinnamon crumbles or something on top than actually iced, though some are definitely iced and still are muffins. There are absolutely lovely muffins out there but I don't think it's fair to use those as the baseline and say muffins suck even if 80% of them were crappily made.

My favorite muffin is probably banana chocolate chip or blue/cran berry mix.

That's mildly moistly disappointing. I was hoping more for one sad slice floating in a giant block of gelatin.

If it doesn't have a crumbly crust, sure, but it usually does, so it's a tart.
