Yes there's absolutely no cost to playing the card Chalice of the Void in your deck.

The Shortest Path posted:This but unironically. suicidesteve's point is that there are serious deckbuilding constraints on chalice but the deckbuilding constraints on DRS basically consist of "play black or green mana and don't play a combo deck(or play elves)"

mandatory lesbian posted:i mean if we're gonna look at this limited a statistic then maybe a card appearing in half the winning decks is a problem well yeah, but there are a fair number of cards with similar representation and I don't think that's necessarily a good metric for banning, especially in an eternal format, the point was that "DRS has driven all non-fast-combo-DRS-less decks out of the format!" is just obviously factually untrue- I mean seriously go look at a few top 8's of recent events (literally just past 10 events above 1 star) like it shouldn't surprise anyone that various Delver/Deathblade/4c Leovold shitpile lists are quite prevalent at the moment, it's pretty much what any reasonable observer would have expected after Miracles got nuked, but there just isn't much evidence that any of those archetypes or DRS itself is actually oppressive for the format- and the decks DRS is best against are typically the sort where it's not the worst idea in the world to provide tools to suppress them, since they're largely degenerate graveyard-based strategies

Dammint, I wasn't going to play standard, but now I know I can play a deck that will at least have this: 4 Kumena's Speaker 4 Metallic Mimic 4 Merfolk Branch Walker 4 Silvergill Adept It is a poo poo version of my favorite Modern Deck . . . . . . . . . . I'm in.

B-b-but Silvergill refers to a specific group on Lorywn! I can't believe the same company that would so adamantly stick to flavor for being a reason to not reprint cards would suddenly be okay with it if it meant making a better set! Can you believe DTK having no baby dragons because we said so and we can't tell ourselves no was two years ago?

A coral merfolk that replaces itself in your hand seems fine. Surely a silver gill coloration could have developed independently on Ixalan.

I'm not really an appraiser, but if they were my cards and I were planning to put them on eBay or w/e, I'd describe them thus: Tablet: Heavily played (Fair) Tropical Island: Lightly-Moderately Played (Very Good+) Wheel of Fortune: Moderately Played (Good) With the caveat that I'm looking at photos. You can check them front and back, hold them oblique to the light to look for scratches, marks, and divots, etc.
