The only actual royals in the movies are Leia and her dad so does that mean Rey is her kid via Leia's well known affair with Chewbacca? I guess the Emperor is sort of royalty?

I don't even remember enough about Rey for any twist about her origin to surprise me. All I know is she was orphaned, she's the even chosener one than Anakin, and she got visions when she touched Luke's lightsaber.

We don't actually have any evidence she's an Anakin-style "Chosen One" yet, that's all fan speculation reaching to justify why she's good at using the Force in TFA (she's probably just naturally gifted, unless she has some secret Jedi parentage).

The Chosen One stuff is so barely present even in the prequels I'd be surprised if they decided to pick that up and run with it.

I'm Obi Wan shouting "You were the Chosen One!" at the dismembered smouldering wreck of Anakin at the climactic point of three films.

Before he dies, Maul asked Obi Wan if Luke is the Chosen One and Obi Wan said yes. Maul's last words were "he will avenge us". Then, Obi Wan is shown looking at Luke from a distance, stroking his beard. I wonder if Maul gave Obi Wan ideas. "If Luke sees Vader kill me, maybe that will motivate him to kill Vader. It worked for me when Maul killed my master."

Congratulations on not getting fit in 2011!
You can't have a region of space called "The Unknown Regions" in your sci-fi story without some crazy galactic horror coming out of that fog. Doubly so if you've gone two trilogies with that ominous name to the side on maps and not even touching on it, outside of legends of course. I'd love for Snoke, his wealth, the FO armies, and the Force Cthulu and it's hosed Up Drones that Eat Reality Itself (which is only killable by Chosen Ones and their reincarnations) everyone is gonna have to fight in IX to come from there. It'd be a great final loose end.

It doesn't really matter. Rey is such a non-character that it's painful. She makes Luke look complex and nuanced.

I think she's comparable to Luke, if anything she's more nuanced; it's just that her added nuances are "more guarded and insular" (so she comes off as enigmatic; I imagine a novelization that showed her interior landscape would change this, like a reverse of the Hunger Games) and "came out of profoundly lovely circumstances" (Luke had a landspeeder; Rey would look at a landspeeder and think "a week's food!")

These are not bad or cruel traits but they do not lend themselves to an emotional performance. It would honestly make a lot of sense for Rey to angle herself for money, wealth and power based on what we have seen of the character.

I don't really know why people keep calling Luke a non-character. He's about as complex and nuanced as anybody else in Star Wars, even in A New Hope.

Most of the Star Wars movies have been PG. I think a total of 3 (soon to be 4) have been PG-13. But I guess you're right that the new ones will all be PG-13. But, like, yeah, those are kids movies now. All of the Marvel movies have been PG-13, and they're largely aimed at kids.

Hell, almost all movies these days are PG-13. It lets kids think they're not watching kids movies and are "totally watching grown up movies", when they're totally watching kids movies.
