If Ben retires, Cousins will get an offer from the Steelers. They never do things like that because they preach the draft and develop mantra, but they also make a lowball to like every free agent imaginable, so it's not inconceivable.

I guess the benefit of trading for a Jimmy G vs waiting for free agency is you get to try him out for a half a year and if he sucks you can either sign him cheap or let him walk. If you wait til free agency you might end up paying way more for him than he ends up being worth.
