After what seems like an eternity, CUPHEAD has finally been released. And it's every bit as amazing as people hoped it would be. If you've not heard of it, it's a boss rush/challenge game with animation and audio set in the style of Max Fleischer animation of the 1930's and 40's. All of it is hand drawn and animated, and all of the audio is recorded using the tech of the time. This game is super difficult, super pretty, and super lovely. It sold over 100,000 copies in its first couple of days and maintains an "Overwhelmingly Positive" score of 97% positive reviews on Steam. It's a unicorn of a game and I love it. It's like someone made a new Mega Man game in my favorite art style.

Austin Walker booted up a game he'd heard good things about, a SHMUP called Astebreed, and, well, the PC version is a bit buggy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5HnQuN2byg&hd=1 He assumed it was just ridiculously difficult and fast, but no, there's a bug with the vsync option that makes the game operate at 3x normal speed. So all the dialogue triggers 3x faster(overlapping a lot), the enemies shoot 3x faster and 3x as much(often creating impossible to dodge patterns), and everything moves 3x faster. That he made it as far as he did with it like that was kinda amazing. edit: also it completely, utterly fucks the video quality due to everything moving constantly and so quickly.

I've never liked their show, but never minded them in other people's poo poo. Like Tim on comedy bang bang is pretty good, and on Cinema is ok. Hell I even listen to Tim's podcast sometimes but I'll never watch that show.

Vice's gaming subsite, Waypoint, does some pretty great documentaries occasionally. They just released one on their youtube channel about a speedrunner who is fairly well-known at Games Done Quick, who goes by the name Halfcoordinated. He has Hemiparesis, a disability that makes the right side of his body considerably weaker and less responsive than his left. This makes it hard to play games, so he learned to play games one handed, and has gotten quite good at it.
