Really, really obese people often seem to be hyper-flexible. Does the fat invade the joints and just pop them out? Imagine having liquid-coupling hips! EDIT: Shameful snype. I think gravity stretches the connective tissue over time from all that weight pulling on everything.

There seems to be some connection between lipedema and joint laxity. It's a hosed-up disease process. Dercum Disease, one of the most painful types of lipoma, that often also causes lipedema, can be comorbid with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, too. AlbieQuirky has a new favorite as of 21:40 on Nov 3, 2017 |

In all honesty, I am hypermobile in nearly every joint and it certainly doesn't help with feeling like trying to be active and healthy when you're in pain all the time and get injured repeatedly just from moving. It's a lovely life.

So I'm assuming there's not a surgical fix to this issue? It just seems like at some point scooping out some of the goop would be best.

If you get to that weight is there even a chance of returning to a normal life or is it basically just palliative care at that point

IIRC, it's not necessarily fat. Lymphedema can be mistaken as lipedema, but causes fluid build up and eventually fibrous growth in lymphatic passages, which means that fixing it is a lot less straightforward than regular weightloss. Surgical procedures can fix different types and severities of lymphedema, for sure, but for a case that far gone... who knows. It would probably be a series of smaller surgeries, physical therapy, and aggressive lifestyle monitoring. Lots of money that she might not have That has to be one of the scariest things, to be able to starve yourself half to death and still gain weight because fluid isn't actually leaving your legs E: get tested and get your partners tested if you're sleeping around. Be a furry slut if that makes you happy, but don't spread disease

She was completely incapable of losing weight no matter how much she exercised and dieted. Turns out it was fluid buildup. She had pancreatitis caused by gallstones that nearly killed her.
