I remember when Hanson moved to England because there were too many Muslims in Australia, then came back almost immediately because there are in fact even more Muslims in London

That collar would be stained yellow with sweat in a couple months and the tie would be suffocating in the heat. Oh wait that's right. It's all just for show. At least he had the good sense not to put creases in his sleeves because that would just crack me up. Pretty sad neither of them had a drink though. How un-Australian. Even New Zealanders would be drinking so really Barnaby fails all round.

Hanson only spent like two months in England or something before realizing there were too many Muslims there, too, right? She probably didn't bother with the application. It would be glorious if so though.

Being entitled to citizenship isn't the same thing as being a citizen though. She would have had to apply for it, same as Carnarvon did for his Italian citizenship.

I’m fine with screwing over all current politicians under S44, but if Barnaby will retain office through by-Election anyways what’s the point? We might as well open parliament to dual-citizens, we’re not xenophobic white Australia policy Australia anymore (I think). We should be stopping foreign interest or donations and dodgy back door deals but good luck pushing an ICAC. S44 seems like a moot point when our politicians are being bought anyways.

The constitution says a member should pay a hundred pounds a day for every day they sat while ineligible but some cowards in 1975 changed the rules. RBA's currency calculator says a hundred pounds in 1901 is fourteen thousand seven hundred dollars in 2016 which would have made this even more entertaining

Because of Italy's laws it's somewhat unclear as to whether or not Matt Canavan could possibly have held any realistic suspicion that he could have been an Italian citizen. I think that's the courts take on it.
