And the centrist who committed a ton of gaffes managed to do it.Yes a progressive candidate could have done better. And I hope he gets pushed by all these new Dems in the state house to go as left as possible. But this is enough to tonight.

Maine Medicaid expansion is looking promising, too. The affirmative vote for that may actually be a rather important boost of confidence in the Affordable Care Act, at least as far as ~*narratives*~ go.

Congratulations and thank you to those who were on the ground getting people to vote today. It was this time last year that I realized I was a low-information voter who would really only pay attention to the presidential elections but I voted today in the New York elections because of people like you. Seeing major victories in Virginia and New Jersey is motivating and it gives me hope. Yes, yes, hope is a lie, blah, blah, blah.

how many possible seats are we at? 18 with 14 confirmed?

Petr posted:When a gerrymander dam breaks like this, does it tend to be long-term or does it require waves every election to maintain? Gerrymandering results in discontinuous election results so the Barro haters are wrong and he is right. Dems are gonna get the same number of seats as vote share. Previous gerrymander is now somewhat broken as it was based on cities going hard D, rural and suburbs going moderately R. In the new world, rural areas go hard R (like cities go hard D) and suburbs are now soft D. Scrambles the map.
