While I admit people still went out and voted for him after he went ~beast mode~, absentee voting in Montana is yuge because polling places are few and far between (it's a very empty state) and Gianforte already had a ton of votes before the polls even opened.

Again, that doesn't matter. We know the effect it had on voters on the day of and can extrapolate thst to see that gianforte still would have won even if his assault had happened weeks earlier.

Beating up reporters doesn't move the needle, and I'm not convinced that the republican base, IE. The people who would vote for Moore, will believe the news enough for it to have any effect.

If any substantial proof comes out in the next month, or if he shows the slightest sign of weakness or admission that any of it is true, then he is turbofucked. If not, I'm still unconvinced that it will hurt turnout in any meaningful way, and I don't out it past republicans to come out just to spite the media.

would a lot of those jokers actually have sex with a 14 year old? probably not. does it bother them? not really.

the point is that this is a part of masculine culture, not a part of southern culture

the south is a dumping ground for all the cultural baggage white people don't want to deal with in their own backyards. southerners are consistently more racist, poorer, stupider, filthier, etc.

nobody was running around saying jerry sandusky was indicative of upper appalachian or mid atlantic pedophile culture. i dont remember people holding up dennis hastert to prove that the midwest was full of kid diddlers. but we'll say roy moore exposes the problems with southern pedophilia and a bunch of credulous goons start nodding their heads "yes, it is because they are republicans who go to church and watch nascar as well, this makes sense"

Yeah, we're gonna likely see an attempt at a write-in campaign by Strange

Moore's campaign is denying hard (why didn't they come forward earlier, etc), and I doubt he was is gonna walk away from this race unless he is dragged away

No, but Sandusky and Hastert weren't the only thing standing between a Democrat and a very valuable Senate seat.

I know it's a blip on the radar when the GOP comes out once and again proving how much they love to use their fingers as much as their legislation to gently caress children, but that Democratic donor prick who got interviewed on MSNBC is doubling down.

I don't generally advocate to eat the rich but god drat it seems like sometimes the rich really want to be eaten.

EDIT: I mean the obvious thing he's saying here is 'stop advocating for socialist values' which seems like a great way to alienate the poor.

Murkowski's apparently been in contact with Luther Strange about running a write-in campaign. If the public actually believes the women, then that's probably the Republicans' best shot at keeping the seat.

Why are Republican politicians coming down on Moore so hard? Is it cause they thought he didn't have much of a chance already before this news broke?

Moore was never really liked by the party, he was always an insane bigoted theocrat even for the gop, but “he fought the good fight” against Obama, so they let him slide. Now he is just problem they can’t really get rid of. So it’s not so much that he is a kid fucker, it’s that he is hated and a kid fucker.

I'm talking specifically about the vote that was cast after the incident, which showed that beating up a reporter didn't actually lose gianforte votes. As in, even though it was headline news on every major network, the people who went and votes the next day statistically did not seem to care.

As seen here.

An important part of this was the lovely response from the police and media.

In a sane world he would have been arrested on the spot and spent Election Day in jail. Straight up assault like that is unacceptable and he got community service for body slamming a reporter asking legitimate questions about his policies. All of the headlines should have read “unhinged candidate commits assault for asking about his health care policies”, but instead it was treated like it was WWE or something.
