I guess I have to wait? (something about new accounts not being in the system for a while and I tried to register this evening)

Pretty hype for it, though!

Fightcade is transferring to their big Fightcade 2 update, so I haven't decided on a date until they stabilize their new software or whatever. It is really nice though, glad they're no longer using an emulator from 2004

the games arent any newer, what do you need a new emulator for

A lot of big names weren't playable on fc1 like Alpha 2, or sfIII without fan patches and crap. Also they expanded functionality to thousands and thousands of arcade games

Also it looks like discord now for no reason and they don't show ping anymore so you take the good with the bad

i mentioned it before but here is the sign up page for the next Invitational - Samurai Shodown V Special. it will be happening next Sunday at 9PM EST, the usual time.

Here is the sign up page http://challonge.com/tournaments/signup/brJAR6lu87

and here is some info about SSVS http://wiki.mizuumi.net/w/Samurai_Shodown_V_Special althought be warned, some information we've already found to be wrong. specifically, the input for Youkai Kusaregedo's poop throwing special is not 163214623BC, it is 363214421BC. there may be more out there as we play. cheers

I strongly recommend playing this one a bit ahead of time, quite a few imps have found it to be weird and frustrating at first but once it clicks it's a lot of fun.

It's true, it's got a pretty particular feel. And this is the first time in one of these that the character I like isn't SSS god tier so I have to actually kinda learn the game

"Special is a 'dream match' game, and effectively a balance patch over the original. All characters have been adjusted slightly, and system mechanics rebalanced. It also adds four playable characters: Amakusa, Zankuro, Gaoh, and Mizuki. Poppy was removed, though."

I think I also used mizuki but she might be too bullshit

I thought you were playing Ukyo, who did you switch to?

e: Mizuki is apparently worst or second worst character in the game, but it might be one of those things where she's fine up until your opponent finds the hard counters for her bullshit.

Yeah I think she's in every one.

I think I'm gonna play random again, I like most of the cast and fatalities and supers are a common input.

I switched to kazuki because if you 412x he does a counter move where his upper body explodes and his pants catch on fire.

I hate it cause for some buffer/priority/me being a retard reason I always get it when I try to 214c.

The nice thing about this one is that you guys who are too cool to practice will kill each other in quick, bloody, and entertaining fashion, since you don't actually need to know anything to do insane damage.

Some of the more interesting mechanics in this game:

Kazuki can launch his fireball while on the ground.

Yunfei has a command grab that steals meter.

Yoshitora has an absurdly good special move where he actually uses his enormous sword, but the game will not let you use it unless you've landed his other six specials previously in the match.

Gaira's command throw does more damage if you spin the joystick during the animation.

Shizumaru has a TAP like move but you can change the button being held down as long as you press the new one before releasing the old. Alternately, you can activate it with start button without losing charge. It charges between rounds and is a one hit KO after 80 seconds.

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

To clarify the kazuki thing, it's after a knockdown, not just when standing on the ground. It doesn't really seem useful because it burns all accumulate charges but it's funny to hit people with it when they're not expecting it
