there's some serious poo poo going down between Toro Rosso and Renault. Toro Rosso accusing Renault of deliberately supplying defective parts so they fail and the Renault works team finishes ahead of them in the WCC standings

Currently in FP3 Mercedes and Ferrari are covered by 0.06s. 5th place is Alonso, just under a second slower. 5th-18th are separated by less than a second

FP is usually nice to just put on and listen to while doing other stuff but that constant beeping from the pit lane alarm bleeding through microphones is driving me up the wall. There's talk of changing the compound names to letters because you can't really go softer than "Ultra soft" in the present nomenclature, but I actually like "Hyper soft" or renormalizing the scale so US is Soft, SS is Medium, etc. If it's relative, it's easier for a casual viewer to understand what it is.

I think the proposal is A-G, hardest-softest. If anyone is confused by that, they are probably going to be just as confused by soft, super-soft, ultra-soft, mega-soft and giga-soft.
