Pictured: the patron saint of internet political arguments (probably)

This isn't an old game, in fact, I'm not sure it's even out yet, but it's driving me crazy that I can't find even the crowdfunder article..

The game is an rpg-ish FPS in the cyberpunk genre. It's named something to do with Tower, I'm pretty sure, because the entire premise is that you parachute into a tower, and have to gain entrance to solve a crisis of some kind. Maybe it's a rogue AI or hostage takers or something, but the pitch said that there are many plot twists on the way, and that you get to choose how you want to play the break-in( you can negotiate, trick or just plain blow up guards and other obstacles).

The funding page had a lot of gameplay videos, which leads me to suspect it's out now or will be out soon, I saw it about a year or two ago. It looked gritty which gave a Deus Exy feel, but I don't think it's a part of that series, because the new Deus Ex game was being developed in the same time frame, and it's not it.

If you can help me from what I've written, thanks a lot! It's making me nuts that I can't find it.

I was thinking about changing my avatar, and I have a vague, possibly invented memory of a cute snake enemy who rolls at you ouroboros-fashion, from some sprite-based game. I want to say it was red, and maybe from an obscure-ish NES game like Ufouria or Utusurun Desu. At the very least, that's the sort of art style I'm picturing.

I think that is utsurun desu or maybe kendo rage?

EDIT: Scrubbed through an utsurun desu speedrun and ole' otterman seems to only fight humans, books, ghosts, and pairs of shoes. I swear I've seen the sprite you're describing in the last year or so.

This one has bothered me for a long time, and I've never been able to find it. I rented it during the 90s and was never able to find it again.

It's a racing game for what I suspect is either the NES or Genesis, and the only thing I really remember about it is that you could customize the paint color of your car such that you could have different colors for the front, middle and rear of the car. I don't remember if it was an F1 type game, but it might have been. Any thoughts?

I can't find video where anyone actually goes that deep into the settings, but you're almost certainly thinking of Al Unser Jr. Turbo Racing for the NES.

Arcade game around the early to mid 90's, don't know if it had a home port, it was a lightgun game in 2D but had tons of sprite/background scaling to give a 3D effect of you moving through the stages, it was two player and one guy was red and the other blue. May have had 'Line' in the title? Also possibly a Sega game. Not a movie or any other license.
Sounds kind of vague now, trouble is it was kind of generic outside of the graphics being really good for the time (or so I thought).

I'm glad I found this thread, because there is a game I've been trying to figure out the title to for a long time now.
I apologize in advance for being vague, but I was a little kid when I tried this game a few times.

It was an early DOS game, like really early, it had four colours I think, light blue, purple and white, which seems to describe every game of the era, the screens were mostly black so it wasn't a brightly coloured game.
It was an RPG of sorts, but I don't recall any stats like D&D style games or character creation, but you could chose from like a couple dozen dudes, all of which were in unique characters in the game, like if I remember right any dude you could bump into you could play as.
The perspective was similar to early RPGs like Ultima and Dragon Quest.
And I'm pretty certain it took place in Feudal Japan.
The various screens were things like forests and parts of town, I don't recall any kind of overworld map.

The gameplay consisted of me wandering from screen to screen until I bonked into a dude and started a fight, there was no real combat system, either you won, or you got kicked back to the title screen, if there was anymore I don't remember.
I also don't remember any dialogue or even an intro screen, you picked a dude then you could just wander about.

Again, sorry for being so vague, but this was nearly thirty years ago.

Sounds like Scavengers of the Mutant World which has a vague Asian thing going on and after picking your precreated characters it just drops you in the middle of nowhere.

God drat it, I figured out what the game was and it turns out I wasn't remembering it correctly.

It was called Shogun, and I got the perspective completely messed up, it's viewed from the side, but you don't have to walk on the ground you can literally walk into the air.

Thanks for reminding me of this. I always meant to track it down again. I had this from a mail order rental company when I was like 10 and sent them back a blank/dead 5 1/4 floppy after messing up the disk copy. That and Sabateur 2.

Ugh this is frustrating because I know I own this game on Steam but I have literally thousands of Steam games.

Originally came out mid-80s and was re-released within the past couple of years. It has CGA graphics and the re-release kept the cyan tones.

First person adventure/strategy hybrid kind of like the first Dune game. You control two distinct leaders (I believe they're family, like a father/son dynamic) who have to recruit armies across the world to fight generic evil wizard villain. The villain moves about in real time so he'll destroy villages and stuff while you're off recruiting elves and poo poo. One of the heroes I think had a legendary weapon and they at least had to survive to actually beat the villain.

I remember I used to "play" a Commodore 64 videogame during a summer. I am putting "play" between quotes because the game itself was a videogame with a RL boardgame part and required more than one player (two or maybe three to six), so I was just dicking in to see what would have happened if I did this or that.

I think the byline was "a boardgame for 3 to 6 people and a commodore 64".

Anyway, the theme was that the players were tycoons owning and operating newspapers in an european socialist country. The videogame part consisted in bidding on which news to publish and trying to win over the readership. Readership brought to sales, and I think that the end of turn screen gave you cost and revenue, that you then had to account with the IRL paper money. However there was another aspect: when you bought or skipped a news the game would tell if the government loved or hated the news that you just published (and sometimes one of the news would be "the director of X died in a car accident, don't know if it was a game over condition for the player owning that newspaper").

I think some of the newspapers were "The Clarion" and "The Bugle". I am almost certain that the state-owned newspaper (that you could still buy but it was difficult as you needed to bankrup it first) was called "The Truth". Endgame condition was to make the government crash, something that you could attempt only if you controlled enough newspapers.

It did not have graphics, it was mostly represented by text mode, and I think it was heavily coded basic.

Sorry if it was already discussed but I found exactly 0 references about this game on the internet.

An MSX tape I played once: isometric view, human character with laser gun, a hundred puzzle rooms (numbered!) full of traps, hostile robots, etc.. Got stuck at room #3 because I couldn't figure out how to get the force field at the entrance down :sigh:

e: oooh it might have been Disc Warrior and it seems I mistook an elevator for a force field lol

I remember a game that was in pre alpha last time I saw it. It was a fairly realistic military shooter, like arma but with small maps. The main thing it got noticed for was it's very flexible weapon attachments, that would let you do ridiculous stuff like stack scopes on top of each other forever and actually use them, even if it did tank the fps.

No, it was definitely more focused on NATO weapons, so I'm guessing it's an American/European developer.

Didn't know Tarkov had that though, which has made me slightly more interested in it.

Fake edit: I think Dslyecxi did a video on it, but I can't find it.

90's MacOS game, a spaceship arena combat game. You'd pick a bunch of ships from a roster, choose one to control, I think you could set up teams too. Then go to combat, which was a single screen. Ships would start on the perimeter, there were asteroids in the middle. Different ships had different sprites, maneuverability, health, weapon energy, and primary and secondary attack (though the primary was always shooting some basic bullet pattern). I mostly remember filling every ship slot with the fastest, most fragile ship and then putting them all under AI control; they'd fly into the center of the room at max speed and explode as they collided with each other, the asteroids, and their attacks.

No, the ships had more basic designs. Come to think, I remember the documentation for the game making a big deal about how it had some fast way to draw triangles (not shaded polygons, just flat-colored triangles). The practical upshot is that the graphics looked kiiiind of like Another World / Out Of This World, but more basic. Like, I'm pretty sure one of the ship designs was just a single-color teardrop shape. Also you could have more than four ships in a fight. I think the cap was 8 or 12.

I also remember downloading fanmade ship packs, which predictably tended to be a little light on balance.

secrets of grindea. it was okay, still unfinished. as the name implies, there's a lot of grinding on weak rear end enemies for extremely marginal benefits, but you need them because gaining levels is slow as molasses. there's also no instanced loot; the best they do is "fair split" so the game (sort of) distributes the drops no matter who picks them up. but when enemies drop only one item, like bosses do, their system doesn't know how to handle it and just randomly chooses a recipient, so you can easily go for extremely long stretches where you're trying to grind a boss and the same guy keeps getting the drop.

development seems to have stalled out, the game is maybe 40-50% finished? two years ago, they were showing off some assets for a new dungeon. a few months ago, they made a news update for the game and showed... exactly the same thing they had two years ago.

unfortunately, the devs were way too obsessed with a binary divide between Ultra Hardcore Difficulty and Weakling Baby Difficulty. on the highest difficulty, enemies act quickly and attack aggressively, but they kill you in four hits or less and the game turns into kind of a bullet hell. on any lower difficulty, enemies do actually reasonable damage, but they also don't attack at all. also it doesn't have any on-demand healing. please enjoy it

I have an old game song stuck in my head but I can't remember what its from and its driving me crazy. I don't know how to search for it other than finding the notes using a keyboard and then playing it, or recording myself humming it or something stupid like that :(

It'd be a pretty classic dos game, simpler music than Doom so something like wolfenstein or warcraft 1 but not those. Crap.
